Looking to see what you all think is in the pipeline at Yamaha for the 09 Apex. If you look at the 2 most recent body styles, its pretty clear Yamahas direction. I think you will see an all new 09 Apex that will knock our socks off. Big time rider forward ergos, lighter weight and more power. Not sure how much more, but I would guess in the 160-165 range similar to what you see in there watercraft. Gear reduction...etc. I think the 09 Apex is going to be killer.

Personally, I dont think there will be big changes next year. Yamaha has come out with a new chassis and a new engine in every one of the last 3 years. I think it will be another year or two until we see new chassis and engine changes. But I sure do hope they come out with some new stuff next year.

Yamaha has really stepped up the pace on sleds the last few years but I think they really need to come up BIG in 2009. The Ski-Doo 800 is quite a sled, light weight with 150 HP or so. I bleed BLUE but i think it is time for Yamaha to turn up the heat even more. It is all good for us that ride as the 4 manufacturer's are really competing for our dollars..
It will be a very interesting 2009.........................

I just hope that those of us who have dumped a ton of $$$ into our sleds don't all of a sudden have an obsolete machine. IMO, they have a good thing going with the current platform, and it although it would be awesome to see improvements, it would be even better if the improvements would be retrofittable. At least for a few years. I doubt Yamaha will go with a total re-do anyway. With the rapidly rising costs of sleds, I would hope they would like to capitalize on the technology they have now, instead of adding more cost for a newly engineered machine. Just my $.02. :ORC

as a loyal yammie man...I think if they do come out with something big in 09'..
it would be like th 97' sx 700's...even when the machines up the ante ....the ole' sx was still a sweetheart..
so...IMHO...what I have will be a sweet machine for awhile to come...maybe not the fastest or lightest...but pretty darn dependable...oozing quality and a nice suspension...sure I want more..but I'm gunna continue tweaking and be happy with what I have...
Now if I knew the rev-xp motor was as bulletproof...I'd be seriously thinking of jumping camp..

Last night I wasw at the 2008 release and I gotta say. Other than the numbers I'm not at all impresed by what Ski-doo has to offer. I know they are "Prototypes" (it said so on the windy) but if anyone can honestly say after opening panels and playing with switches on both the XP and either the Nitro or Apex and say they'd put their 9-12K on the XP I would be very suprised. Not impressed at all with the quality. Let me just say this, if they leave the storage compartment the way it was at the show. Look out, there is goning to be a lot of flying debris on the trails. I expect to see a lot of these XP's next year just from brand loyalty but I also expect to hear about complaints of the body panels and controls and everything surrounding the drivetrain. All I'm saying is if you know anyone that is considering an XP make sure they see it in person and get to pay around on it. I think you will get the point of what I'm saying.

I was at the show as well and feel exactly the same way. The new doo line-up doesn’t even compare in any way shape or form to what Yamaha has to offer. My impression is cheap and not durable. JMO.

Yamaha has been keeping each model for three years and then it changes. It would only be in their best interest to change over and keep consumers buying.
I can't say what they will come out with. I am pleased with the Apex/Attack riding position now. I guess we will see early next year. How funny that the sled for '09 is already built right now.

I don't think you will see much till 2010 for big changes in Apex/Attack lineup...
As for Ski Doo, I'm not really that impressed. Outstanding weight savings but I would not sacrifice it for reliability. If they hold up it will be a great sled, time will tell.

What do you think the interest would be like for the new 130hp Nytro motor in the db2 chassis ? Seems like a no brainer for 2009. No gear reduction, lighter, power to weight ratio....hot sled.

As long as you got a sled that runs over 10,000 rpm, ( the 4 cylinder sleds ) I was told that they have to run the gear reduction set-up to keep from detonating the clutching.
