New to the site and could use some, 09 Nytro mtx, I want to put an AC 153 skid in it. Looking at a 2010 and a 2013 M8 skid, neither have shocks, would one be better than the other, plus can anyone help me with mounting locations and best shocks to use. Any help will be greatly appreciate.

I currently have a Polaris 155 suspension in a 162 track it works pretty good and looses lots of weight and can be bought for cheep. There is a thread about this modification as well on here.

Zx thanks for the info, I already had this 2013 AC skid coming or I would have did some close looking at the Polaris stuff. I've read most of the threads I can find in here on the AC skids, most are a few years back and was hoping to get some more current input on shocks, some were saying use coil overs which I do think would be the better option, what has worked for you with the Polaris skid?

I have a raptor in the front and stock in back. Raptors or exits are nice shocks but spendyZx thanks for the info, I already had this 2013 AC skid coming or I would have did some close looking at the Polaris stuff. Yea spendy is the key word there, I am on somewhat of a budget and finding the Fox Zero Pro's pretty affordable and available so I think I'll give them a try, sent the drive shaft to have Avid extrovert drivers installed and got an anti-stab kit to put on, was also thinking about an under tunnel exhaust but seems to be mixed reviews on that topic, like the idea of freeing up the above tunnel space. Any input on that Topic ZX would be appreciated.........

Undertunnel is nice for having storage. But it also ice’s up more. And there is a bunch of fabrication to make it work. Something you will have to check is track clearance with the arctic cat skid to make sure it doesn’t bottom out on muffler. Take springs off shocks and cycle the suspension to make sure. Last season I had a hushpower #12012409 exhaust on and it was nice. It was quiet but still had a straight flow thru. This year I am going with a tunnel dump off the turbo with a exhaust shut off valve. Like kinger did on his apex last year.

I started planning out the undertunnel with the stock skid but have read about guys having issues with the AC skid, more travel, hitting the exhaust and the icing issues. I was planning on moving the muffler to the back and exiting out the side, what I had read about the icing had alot to do with dumping the exhaust in the tunnel. I picked up a Magnaflow automotive muffler originally, 3 1/2 x 7 oval with a single inlet and a dual outlet and was going to basically run dual exhaust out the back, for looks if nothing else, it would still be lighter than stock. Not the smartest thing to do but I'm kind of an old hot rodder and it's in the blood. Now with the Ac skid not sure what I can do, waiting for shocks and powder coating to get it in there and see what I have for room. Have you had any problems with the front sub frame getting bent and if so welding in some gussets? Also was thinking about a power commander, any input there? I've used them often on other stuff with good rersults. Is there a thread on this tunnel dump that kinger has on his Apex?

I tried to mount mine further back towards bumper but found there was less clearance there when suspension is compressed. Most clearance was above the top suspension wheels as close to header as possible. My next build will be a stock motor with hurricane air box mod and free flowing muffler and header and power commander. I have a auto tune map that works well with this setup that a ty member gave me years ago. Definetly do the grizz track subframe mods as these subframes are super weak in stock form. Also put on a proper skid plate from barn of parts. Kingers thread is https://ty4stroke.com/threads/kingers-boosted-garage.82795/page-22

Thanks for the link ZX, interesting read. Maybe down the road a supercharger, I don't think you can get the gains with the supercharger setups available as compared to turbo's but always liked what looks like a less complicated install. Somewhere I ran across someone who was making up a gusset package for the subframe, can't seem to find it again, any info there? Looking at the pic of your nytro the front suspension looks like it's kicked forward, if it is who's is it and how's it work for you?

My a arms are stock that I modified myself. I cut and moved ahead 3” and rewelded. It seems to help with getting it on edge and carving. Very glad I did it myself and not spent $1000 on some a arms as it would not be worth it for that money. As for the subframe the guy who designed the gussets is called grizztracks. I’m not sure if he sells a kit anymore but I made my own just used his pictures for reference.

I had thought about putting together a jig and building my own a arms, done alot of work with 4130 and you just convinced me to do it. Did you stay with the stock spindles? I think I saw something on you tube with grizz welding in the gussets. I bought this nytro a couple months ago and something is bent on the left side, shock has put a dent in the upper a arm, looks like a bear to pull that sub frame. I had also come across a guy who changed the front end geometry buy redoing the a arm mounting points on the sub frame and using I believe the stock arms, I'll have to go back and look at that again. Thanks for all the input ZX

Make sure you straighten the a arm before you weld the subframe up. Use a big crow bar or long pipe as for my a arms I would have liked to make my own Cromolly ones but I do not have a tig welder. The only about my a arms is they can be a bit tippy on the trail as they are 36” c to c. The other thing you should look into is a roll over tank. Not a roll over valve. Alpine use to make one but have closed there doors now. But you can make one, I did and they work well if you end up like me with my sled on it’s side or upside down a lot. Roll over valve has its issues and are spendy to get the latest one
