So I just bought a used Vector with 8000 kms on it, second owner. In really good shape. On my first trail ride I noticed the suspension would rebound really hard and hit me in the #*$&@ ! Sometimes throwing me up off the seat. It's actually not very safe to ride. The downward travel seems to work fine . This is my first Yamaha sled so I don't know much about them. I'm thinking the shock is worn out and the seller lied to me telling me it all worked fine. Can anyone give me some advice ? This problem has put a damper on my first weekend away riding this year. Mark.

Check you cable adjuster that it is not broken, but it sounds like maybe shock needs rebuilt. I just got mine back from getting rebuilt and re-valved at Shock Tec in Drayton , Ontario. Amazing difference
www.shocktec.ca , it was $90

Thank You fixerman519. I checked the cable this morning and yes it broken. I'm thinking it needs to be rebuilt to. Did you mail the shock to Shock Tec ? How long did it take ? Thanks again . I am only 50 minutes from there so I drove it there and picked it up, I have some buddies that mailed/ UPS them with no issue, It was done 2 days after dropping it off (I had to wait my turn), Frank asked my riding style, sled info, and set it up for my style of riding and weight. I have sent probably 8 there over the last couple years with no issues. My revalve / rebulid was on a 08 Vector RS

Ok thanks , I'll give them a call. Where do I get the adjuster cable ? Should I go to the dealer ? Are they better quality there? I see Royal Distributing has them but I'm concerned about the quality form them.I am only 50 minutes from there so I drove it there and picked it up, I have some buddies that mailed/ UPS them with no issue, It was done 2 days after dropping it off (I had to wait my turn), Frank asked my riding style, sled info, and set it up for my style of riding and weight. You can get one from the dealer. It will be better quality than the Kimpex one from RD but either way they don't last long.Ok thanks , I'll give them a call. Where do I get the adjuster cable ? I set mine to a position that works well for me and not changed it years.

Sorry for the very late reply. I'm still learning how to navigate this site. I took it to Shock Tec. It cost me more because the shock shaft was chipped so Frank had to replace the shaft with a generic one. My dial adjustment doesn't work anymore but Frank assured me I really don't need it. Suspension works great now. Had to put a new starter in and exhaust donuts this spring. Now I think the clutch needs work it's clicking and makes the sled sound like a diesel engine ! Thanks for your help. MarkHow did you make out Mark?
That diesel sound is normal. The 3 cyl's have an awful clutch rattle at idle. There are kits that can make it better but the rattle seems to come back.
