I bought 3 litres of 0w30 oil for my oil change a few weeks ago.

The parts guy said the service techs recommend I use 0w40 if the sled has more than 5000 miles on it. My sled has just a little more than this.

Anyone else been told this? There is no reference to it in the service manual.

The 0w40 oil is also 5 bucks a litre more.

he probly figured that 0w40 is heavier and would swell into your seals and gaskets better, it wouldn't be a bad idea really but you should be fine with the 0w30. I always say when it comes to lubrication stick to the owners manual, that way if anything goes wrong it's not nessisarily your fault.
