Lol! It was an aftermarket piston. I honed the bore, and ground the crank pin with sandpaper, over 2 days off and on, miking it and got it within .0002", high spot blue with the rod on...it was pretty much wore out so just for fun by hand....it ran for 11 more years!!! No knock,nothing.. (did grind a little off the Con rod to get the proper fit.) Then overreving it, it just got quiet...when the piston top split at the groove...AWESOME! Then my son in law found a manual transmission cub with a K301 for 300 bucks..runs like a bear...after some parts like a hood, deck, and wheels from the 'rest in pieces' 1250 hydro!Oh no way! I’ve got an old Wheel Horse with a K241! Built a K241/K301 stroker motor going in my log splitter this summer. I finally upgraded to a zero turn, half the time mowing the lawn so I’m FINALLY gave in!
A friend found me a few Exlax zero turns, in nice shape...ok exmark...lol....wish I didn't enjoy running this old junk so much...

Yes, I understand that. Just wasn't sure why it applied to snowmobile engine.Motorcycle oil .....has a wet clutch
Positraction rear end additive is a friction modifier. Prevents clutch chatter

the rx1 and rs nitro sleds had starting issues when guys ran energy conserving oil where it was taking out the one way clutch for the starter from what i remeber. it was all posted up here at the time.

I don’t think it has been an issue with the newer 1049’s and 998’s. Lots of guys running all kinds of oil without issues. I did notice the sprage in my engine has extremely strong springs, more so than any other sprage clutch I have ever seen.
Usually friction modifiers really mess with friction discs, not roller clutches, but that was my assumption.
