What are your thoughts on cutting down a 137” 1.25 down to 1”? I ride mostly groomed trails, and speed runs on weekends....I will be using max spool 17 most the time in the trails and either max spool 20 or higher for races.....I realize the 1” will get me better speeds in the races I was just wondering how the 1” tracks perform on the packed trails and loose snow when studded......I guess the SRX owners would know lol

Why not approach SRX owners? I think many of them will be swapping to 1.25 or more....Just a thought.

Exactly what I would have done if I was to have ordered a SRX.

The 1.25 didn't even cut it for me in my conditions once tuned up. I'm going to 1.5 this year. Hard call for the OP running dual purpose trail and speed runs. Unless your trails are always good solid hardpack I'd say the 1.25 is the best compromise.

Depends how and where you ride. Once the trails get packed hard, I don’t think there is a difference in hookup between a 1 inch or 1.25 inch. Obviously loose snow the 1.25 will be better.
If you truly want to race or do speed runs you need a 1 inch track. 1.25 is no good for speed runs and no good for drags because you can’t get enough stud penetration.

Just cut mine down last weekend, mostly use sled for trail and Lake. Installed Hornet Studs.
