I have done a lot of reading, but can't seem to find out if you can get away with the Woody's 1.45's on the XTX models. I know the SE has less clearance, but it looks like on the XTX you could add protection to the rear of the heat exchangers and install the updated tunnel protectors that are braced and be fine. I was hoping someone could comment who is running this length stud without issues. Thanks!

What kind of riding do you do that you want to stud it?
If it's in the trails have you considered an Ice Attack track? It is a much better pattern than the Ice Ripper which was based off a Ripsaw while the Ice Attack is based more off the Ripsaw II which is heads and heels better than the a Ripsaw.
I installed a Ripsaw II this year on my Attak but after looking at the Ice Attack at the dealer in Michigan I kind of wish I would have spent the extra $$, especially since I encountered my fair share of icy corners. But just in comparison the RSII is heads and heels better than a RS track.....no contest.

I've been running 1.50" chisels in my XTX the past couple weekends doing some racing, and have had no problems. I'm pulling them out to go back trail riding, but I'd have no issue running a stud that long full time if needed. Stiffen the tunnel protectors and keep the track tight.

Trail riding, but it doesn't hook up as good as it should for a 144 with the shorter pics. Good to hear about the Ripsaw II. That is a nice looking track. I have had good luck with the Cobra in the past. (Running the 1.45 studs though)

As said I would get the Ice Attack if I did it over again only for the added security in the icy corners. Both the Cobra and RSII are great tracks, the guys at Port Yamaha seem to think the RSII is more durable though. As for the regular Ripsaw.......yuk after I have ridden them all....IMHO.

- Which one? I have 6
For trail riding I am going with an Ice Attack. Studs will hit scrap the EXCUP with high speed runs. Besides I think the Ice Attack will give you more top end for speed, less rotating mass. Weight eats HP.

You are correct:http://www.tracksusa.com/shoptracksbysize.htmthey don't make a Ripsaw 2 in a 144
But they do make the Ice Attak and Ice Attak XT, one being 1" and the second being 1.25".
