I have decided to run Woody's Megabite 1.450" studs this season on my Apex. I was wondering how many of you running these studs experienced contact with front heat exchanger? Also, did you add on any additional protection on top of stock heat exchanger protectors?

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I think you would be fine if you add depth to the stock protectors like maybe pop riveting a hyfax on each protector. My only concern would be the front cooler as you can not add anything to the protector at the front. I think it would be okay, but it would be nice to hear from someone who has tried tested and true.

been running them for 2 years. I added cheap 1/8" thick aluminum to all protectors and it has worked great. I did add double at the back casting point behind the opening for the exhaust because that is where it always hits first.

Same here as well. 1.450" Woody's studs with 1/8" thick aluminum attached to tunnel protectors and no problems. The only spot they will hit is back by the exhaust silencer if you bottom hard.

No, this is with the stock 1-1/4" Ripsaw track!

would it be possible to show pics of the 1/8 alum. install where it goes and how big. thank you

I ran 1.450 megabites with the stock track with no extra protection and it hit on the muffler guard, I now run a 1" hacksaw with added protection .

I like to run my track as loose as possible before it ratchets. With just the putting on extra tunnel protectors on I have a concern about the front bulk head protector. If someone could tell me that it won't hit and have done it, then I will do it. I already have the studs, but I have bean very leary of running them because of how loose I run the track.

I guess it's not a good idea or more popel would be doing it.

last year my apex with 144 never hooked for crap -

Im willing to change out my 1.325 woodys if I could really get the straight answer...that or Im adding more

I got 144 all inside the windows and may add some outside as well

OK, after reading the old post, it looks like I can run them as long as I put in the extra tunnel protectors in.
