1.5 track swap downfalls

Yes Turk I seen your turbo run in Hud Bay and it was very impressive.I hope your new sled runs as good or better as I can't wait to watch you run next year. What are you buying this year?

This article had me convinced to buy this sled, (oops, thought I had posted this in the SuperTrax thread) but before I had the chance to go to the dealer and put down my deposit, doubt has creeped in to my head.

This sled has everything I want. Rider forward, 4 Stroke, Good suspension, and lightweight BUT, who's to say it won't be more refined next year after all it is a first year sled.

I'd hate to buy this thing and have the 09 come out with 145HP, a 136 option and be 10lbs lighter. I'd kick my own butt for not waiting.

Then you can look at it from the other side, what would 2010 bring ? You could wait and wait and something new comes out every year.

Decisions suck ?

I would think next year they may refine any problems but not change to much. I am sure with all the intrest in 136" tracks that it will be factory offered for 09. As for H.P. I think at 138 it should be competive.

Goddo, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat.

I kept going in the garage, looking at what I had and asking myself would I be satisfied with it for another year. The answer kept coming up no so I did the deed.

I hear ya too Goddo ! I saw the sled yesterday and was very impressed with what I saw ! That and the new XP "X" have my attention, except no need for an exclusive track with the RTX, I can swap my 1.5 Intense off my Rev to the Yamaha no sweat. Look at it this way, if you wait, this new style of sled will be on it's way to being replaced just like everything else. Tech just keep changing and eventually the "new stuff" becomes obsolete, it's just the way it goes, plus I'm sure you want to take advantage of the snowcheck promo. I'm gonna take the RTX for a test ride this weekend here in the Highlands, and I'll let ya know how it is !

Snow check ends at noon on Sunday (which is nuts because no one is open on Sunday around here) which essentially means Saturday for me as our dealer is open 10-2 on Saturday. I'll be riding all day Friday so I have to decide by tomorrow really as I might also be on the snow Saturday. I'd love to wait to get your thoughts on the sled after you test it...Too bad it wasn't a week earlier.

Goddo,
I understand your delima.. BUT

Sleds improve EVERY year! (or they should) So IF you waited until this time next year to spring order an '09 sled... Guess what they'll be more money and there will be an improvement possibily on a '10 sled! It never ends... If you buy new it proven fact you'll take a hit on your sled, and the next year there wil be a better sled somewhere. This happens every year... Good thing too if you ask me! I would hate to still be driving our old El Tigre' 440!!!

I usally wait untill my warranty runs out then I will trade my sled in for the newest baddest thing out! (from yamaha of courese)

Yeah thats a good suggestion skoalring11. I still have 22 months of warranty on my Firecat and she's still basically new (2000 miles).

Thats what makes this decision so tough. I finally have her dialed in to where I like her, and now I'm tempted to get rid of her for this new Nytro.

If I were you I would wait at least another year. Thats a good sled nothing wrong with it so keep it and see what comes out

Who knows if they'll offer the 3 year warranty next year though. Thinking back they were real spotty with offering that. Just buy it, it's only money!

I've decided to keep the Firecat for another season. It still has 22 months of warranty remaing and only just rolled over 2000 miles. It looks and runs like brand new. As much as I want that Nytro it just doesn't make sense.

Thanks for all of your opinions guys. I plan on being a regular in this forum to see what people have to say about this sure to be great sled.

One thing you have to watch when running a track like Turk suggests, is that the sled will not be ISR legal to run in stock class due to not being the same width of track supplied factory in the sled new. But your right Turk, had that same track in my 02 700 Mod rmk, hooked HARD!

hows that freeride on the trails and in the powder. Is it an all around track or made for a specific kind of riding?

Good in the trails but remember , being a 14 it didn't have as much flotation on the snow as the wider track. It worked good but if I was racing 660 I would stick to the wider 15 inch.
