Has anyone installed the 10 tooth drivers on there shortys yet,i was thinking about doing this during the warmer months ahead, sense i already have the 23 tooth top gear on,and may swap my rip saw out and go with the 9837 fully clipped preditor, this would be a good time to change the drivers,i think they would work good with the 23 top and the one inch track combo, and things will roll a little better,i did this to my 05 confusion and it seemed better.

5 % increase on paper.. Went from 8 to 10 on my 900twin Cat and gained app.8.75% ON TOP END.That motor could pull those gears and extra circumferince though. Bill

I would like to find out if they work as well.Maybe Mike Knapp or someone can let us know if they fit and do increase drivetrain effiency.Mach z's have them and so did 03 firecats.

I am sure they fit,and they will fit even better with the 9837 1" preditor track, and i would bet it could even pull 24 top on a shorty, just dont know how effective it will be in meally snow,on hard pack and ice i dont see any problems.. come on some one give it a try lol..

You'll be overgeared. This will cost you holeshot and probably lug your engine at top speed (unless you clutch it to prevent it from shifting fully).

Those with the theory that gearing up will increase top speed... your logic is flawed. If you shift fully, then the engine won't reach peak rpm (and you loose speed). If you do NOT shift fully, you'll end up at the same overall ratio anyways (and you end up with the SAME speed).

However, the 10 tooth drivers are probably not a bad idea for increasing drive efficiency. This will *slightly* lower the approach angle, which will reduce friction at the front of the rail. This adjustment, however, should be accompanied by a 42 tooth bottom sprocket in order to keep *approximately* the same overall ratio.

The way these machines are geared from the factory is like this; they achieve a balance between power delivery and hookup. They are NOT selected based on top speed.

drivers

with ten tooth drivers you will have to install a one tooth lower gear on the top and a two tooth larger gear on the bottem to get about the same gear ratio as stk. and your speedo will be dead on as well with these drivers.

Well if i get to do it john i will just leave my now 23 top in and leave the bottom at 38 which will gear me a little past stock 24/38 w/9 tooth,as being on ice i think 23/38 is a little low with the stock 9 tooth drivers.

hey beast we think alike, its almost scary, dan and i are already planning on this swap for next year, was concerned about the extra distance the drive rollers would hang below the tunnel(possible casing effect might bend shaft),track runs close to the tunnel protectors but with 1" should clear everything easy,im on the right track now,hit 134 on rrbed north of washburn about 1 mile, held 10,700 running 133-134 for over 3/4 mile, mikie like    ,of course im getting more air now with a few mods that are hardly noticable to the untrained eye ;)! 3100 miles and counting, going in the morning to meet few guys in eagle lake so that should add 150 or more,i'll keep you posted on my drive roller swap, also do you think a 4th wheel would help in the back, easy to install one ,just cut long spacer in 2 pieces and trim to allow distance of added wheel bearing,p.s. beast, long lake is a 10mile long skating rink now, hardly any snow anywhere, ive never seen it so smooth and hard b4,........later

Ya after the rain when we left two weeks ago,the lakw was bare ice than but with alot of standing water, and could barley reach 100 speedo, ibet even though its bare ice and smooth,it wont be fast, only cause there is no lube of any kind, and no way to cool the motor, yes i would add the extra wheel,my bud has it on his gt he added, and he likes it,and it may hold things in place better. Man you got your apex smoking trevor, good job bud, keep me posted,i am coming up sat. april1st to pick up my bike at garys,to bad we couldent meet up,we will spend the night at russells motel, and go out to eat somewhere, maybe lakeview?? Later Pete

Do you think that bringing the track closer to the tunnel will counter some of the other benefits. I have thought of the same thing because I am going to install antiratchets. They look a lot bigger than the nines in pics. I have been told a lot of the drag caused by your track is from it compressing air up into the tunnel. That is apparently one of the big bennifits the mountain guys ar seeing from the track porting. It relieves some of that pressure from those monster lugs.

Speeds are about 125.36 with 23/38 gears and 9 tooth drivers.. With 10 tooth drivers and 23/38 gears it is about 140.40 mph

I would NOT put in bigger drivers fellas! The track already hits the protectors hard! The efficency gain is not there as you think. Been there, done that. If you were running an asphalt track at 140 mph yes, but not for the trail, or lower speeds, (140 or less). Mike Knapp#17

Mike i would not do it on the ripsaw 1.25 track either,as i stated in my opening statement i will do it when i go to the 9837 1" preditor track, than there will be no problem with anything hitting..
