Ok, should i have my front shocks rebuilt on my 07 Attak with 10k on them? They are the stock alum coilovers. Took them off and they feel like they have alot of pressure/resistence still but they do have miles on them. Plannin on keepin her untill they get the bugs worked out of the viper lol. Im sure if i asked bruce at pioneer he would say yes but i dont want to waste my $. Thanks....

i did my gytrs at 6000-7000 miles. just an oil change and new charge. now its been another 6000 or so and they are still good when i push on front of sled, but after 3-4 hours on the trail i feel the bumps coming threw the bars.
Its first thing on my list to get done and rear shock.
You will notice a difference.

cheers

Where do you get your shocks done Black Knight?

Going to do my fronts as well as my rear mono again this year.

shock tec.

Frank is his name and he is in Dryton ont. i think.

http://www.shocktec.ca/

call him and tell him what shocks you have and how many km are on them. Your riding style and machine. If you like the way the shocks are just ask him to do a general oil change and nitrogen charge. If you have dislikes about how they are talk to him about re-valving to your liking. Then throw a note in the box with the shock on your specifics and info and ship them. he will go over them with a fine tooth comb.
Nice guy.

cheers

i sent mine through the yamaha dealer all 3 shocks near 300 bones plus hour labour.
there is shocktec and another guy in uxbridge area irv was told $150 for it wish i had knowm before letting the stealership at it.

changing fluids in the shocks is a good idea even when they feel good just to get any moisture build up out of them promotes longer rod and valve life

BK, thanks for posting the link to Shock Tec. They have a page that explains how often they should be rebuilt. The rear shock, arm and rails were destroyed last season on my MP and I now think that the shock probably needed to be rebuilt.

Looks like I'll have 3 sets to have rebuilt since all of them are up there in mileage.

Depending on how you ride the oil in the shocks.. realistically only last 3000 miles.. it gets Burnt and dirty

I have friends of mine rebuild their shocks every 2000 miles

Thanks BK, I think that is where I am going to send mine for a revalve/rebuild this time?
I have heard great things about him so I want to give his work a try.

Just have to purchase a spring compressor as he states on his site to remove them prior to shipping.

Also curious how the front springs come off the GYTR's as that doesn't look too easy? :dunno:

irv i'm pretty sure the gytr's come apart like the olins in the skid.
loosen off the 2 aluminum adjusting collers/nuts that tension the spring ,then when loss enough the bottom retainer should slid off and spring will follow.

cheers

Thanks BK, didn't even think about the spring coming ff the bottom!
D'oh on my part :o|

Whits-end, I will try it but I am just going by what I read on here and that was that I need a spring compressor?
I am on the #1 clip.

Thanks guys ;)!
