1100 Turbo meets its maker

The turbo cat guys are eager to run against non turbo sleds but are not too cocky if they meet up with another boosted sled. I seen a flashed cat line up with a boosted apex xtx this weekend and it was not close. the cat went down hard. guy was not happy but was running against his equal.

Overall there seems to be more potential with an Apex motor according to what the OSP fella at the spring Yamaha show was telling me. In full out turbo mod for drags he claims he can get just over 600 HP with the Doo 1200 motor and the Cat/Suzuki 1100 motor but he said he can pull over 100 HP more out of the Apex motor. Keep in mind this is the short burst max out of these motors.

YamahaTim, you mention not lifting skis....probably has more to do with your skid of the LTX model which is coupled while the XTX is uncoupled and made to lift the skis for deep snow/off trail purposes. The coupled suspension of the LTX is made to keep the skis planted which helps with cornering. The XTX is a 65/35 sled (65% off trail 35% on trail) while the LTX is the opposite of that.

Oh, and the irony of the post title......YES, this is Arctic Cat's last year of the Suzuki motors so we know the 1100 turbo is history. Now we have the Cat 7000 and the Yammie Viper being almost the same machine. Anyone think next years top line Cat machine will be the Yamaha 3 banger motor WITH A TURBO in the Procross chassis??? All I can say if it comes true it better be offered in Yamaha clothing too.

what do you think the imp stock turbo's run????... the max on stock charger is 35lbs of boost and the motor has been known to take a mod stock turbo which is well over 400hp!!! im not saying its going to take it every day on the trail but I have seen it racing....you need to go watch some matches from excell drags this last fall D&D and glenn hall cleaned house on every one there, im pretty sure they even won outlaw with an old z1 twin spar!!! not one Yamaha from D&D all cats and they took all the big races not because of hp but because of setup! How about the times at woodgate shootout??? D&D had fastest eta and fastest speeds on there lake racer sleds and I did see yami 4 holer's run there!

I know that it won't lift the skis like a XTX. I'm ok with that as it just looks cool. Would not want that on the trails anyway. In powder it has no problem lifting the skis and I can keep them up pretty easy. I like that it keeps the skis down. That way I can haul #*$&@ in the trails. I know that the Turbo Cat can be really fast, but most people that have one modded they are for the trail, at least around where I live. So not many around here that have crazy hp. So hopefully I won't have anything to worry about. Even though I really don't care about top speed just more about off the line and mid speed. That's where I use the power anyway. Not across a lake. 1/4 mile is about as far as I will go. I know my Viper is limited in top speed with gearing. But 110-115mph is fast enough for me. As for racing if they can't beat me in a 1/4 mile then I win. Going farther than that is not what I do! :moon:
