Thanks guys. Seems all love the longer footprint for traction, ride and stability. I am not sure if I need the deeper lugs as I rarely go off trail or experience deep snow. I am a trail and lake rider.
So I am still thinking 128 iceripper xt.
THanks for the info

I am pretty sure the Ice Attack is based on the Hacksaw not the Cobra

Can someone tell me how long their '07 Apex RTX is from ski tip to rear grab bar - overall? I'd like to see if it still fits in my trailer - and by the way, if you go with just a 128 set-up will it hit the rear cross-over tube (on an '07 Apex RTX)? These posts are great. I'm trying to make this decision also and want NO problems! Track-wise it sounds like the cobra is a top choice.
Thanks Rich.
Thanks Rich.

RichKay I have been told by tracks USA that they have not had issues with the 128 in the standard tunnel set up.
I have the 'extra concern' of having added the rear heat exchanger, seems to be up out of the way nicely so the 'plan' is to make some protectors for it with some aluminum angle iron I have laying around by extending the tunnel protectors.
The only issue they warned me of is the reverse and snow-flap problem.

128"
Yamadoo,
I went with the 128" Cobra (153 studs) about 3 seasons now. I mostly trail ride and IMO the Cobra track is great. I think the 128" is perfect for these sleds when it comes to 'all-around' performance, handling and ride. It def helped in the 'traction' department. With my 'add-ons' I was def struggling for traction with the 121" Ripsaw (even with 192 studs). I didnt like the feel of 192 studs as well (especially with the outside lugs studded). I love the feel of the Cobra track in the corners as well. I like to swing out the rear end at times and I believe the Cobra allows this. Dont get me wrong...you will get better traction out of a 136" and possibly better ride quality but for overall performance and dif of cost...I dont think you will be disappointed with 128" has to offer. After installing the 128"...my first ride out I did eat the snow flap bracket. I just left the bracket on there and bent it up (towards the front of the sled) to make sure the track/studs would continue to clear it. I tied/hung up the snow flap by taking a shoe lace from a hockey skate and wrapping it around the grap bar, drilled a hole in the snowflap and ran the lace through the hole and knotted it through a big washer in the inside of the snowflap. I wrapped the shoe lace with black elec tape leaving about 2" of the shoe lace free of tape so the snow flap could ride up and down on the lace freely. With the snow flap tied up I havent had any problems (as well as going in reverse or backing off the trailer).

Re: 128"
I could not agree more.. If I were to get another Apex this is the route I would take; 128" Cobra with 1.450" studs up the center. Just an ideal combination if you are looking for overall all performance!

Thanks guys.
I am thinking 128 iceripper XT still.
I understand the Cobra & stud angle and likely not to be any more money.
I have started to do long - 1500 to 1800 miles- very rural trips and feel the added benefit of studs is out weighed by the worry of thrown stud threw heat exchangers -happened to me x2 once ended up renting a non studed 440 fan AC, not good on a dreamed of trip or the vibration of the slightly out of balance track. I know I sound like a wimp. Never thought I would go away from a studded track but some threads on here re the XT iceripper have me excited to try.

A freind of mine has an ice ripper on his trail sled. He rides very hard as he's a snocross racer with three race sleds. He puts 3-4,000 miles a year on his trail sled and says the ice ripper is the best track he's ever had. Only problem is he's a skidoo guy... poor bastard lol!
I'm really considering going the same route as you.. time will tell as im kinda waiting out some good summer/snow show deals.
