I just picked one up, waiting on delivery, brand new take off.

The plan, 3 main issues :

1. Get the 4th rear wheel kit from Yamaha, and completly delete the 2 outer wheels in my skid. (Like the Cats)

-- Wondering if this is "safe" to do WITHOUT having to worry about snagging the track in the adjustment bolts. (ect.) I know some of you powder guys take off the outer wheels...

?

I don't care about extra "tipinness", I like the tippy feeling, for some reason.

2. Get a 3.5" Extension, I think I will splurge and get the tracks USA kit for this. 121 to 128.

Not too many problems here.

3. Now there's tunnel clearance, I see in teerex's post, you can move the rear bumper back a little bit about 1", I may have to do this, may not. I'll have to test it out.

Anyone else see any problems I may run into?

I don't think you don't have to move the rear bumper back if you put that 128" track on, but it is not too difficult to do it. The upper holes in the bumper tubes have to be drilled/machined a bit to make bolts fit. At the same time the rear is lifted an inch or so. So you get both extension and lift of the rear end. My track just touches the flap when bottoming suspension.

Sorry man, but are you saying you think I will have to move it, or are you thinking I won't have to move it.

The double negative is confusing me, either that or it's still too early for my brain.

My buddy bought his mtn lite from the dealer with 300 miles on it from the dealer's kid riding it. There is only 2 inner wheels on the rear axle and one of them is one of the old outer wheels. He's had no problem yet but I haven't seen this on other sleds. Dealer says this mod is for traction in pow when leaned.

Haha... too early in the morning, or was it too late at night I wrote that.
OK I don't think you have to move the rear bumper back if you put that 128" track on ;)! But you will probably fint out after loading the sled down at the rear and see if the track hits anything. I don't think it will.

Thanks for the help.

If anyone has any input about only running 2 wheels, I'm listenin'.

Maybe flip the track tension adjusters FWD so they can't poke the track..?

I had a firecat and the 4th wheel kit did nothing! I put one on and did a lot of other setup and had it riding on rails. Took the wheel kit off and it handled the same! I had the 1 3/8 sno pro track . I was thinking of putting the 128 x 13.5 on my APEX???? Maybe I will put it on the Phazer

OK, after looking at the track, and tenison bolts, I think I will just plainly mount the adjusters backwards OUSTIDE of the rails. That way, it will have a nice clean rear :) with nothing that can damage the track.

Very interesting about the 4 vs. 2 wheels.

Hell, I'll try with 2 wheels, worst comes to worse, I'll already have a 4th rear wheel "kit" and I just gotta throw on some oustide wheels.

What did you think of this track ? 1-3/8 should be MUCH better than the Ripsaw.

You will have to bend up the plate that the snow flap rivets to so it won't catch at full bottoming out of the rear suspension, but that should be the only adjustment!

I loved the track, every one behind me hated it! It really hooks up. first sled I never studed!

I still have my F7 with the 1.375" track and IMO it is one of the best tracks out. I absolutely love it, it hooks up great, does awesome in deep snow, and is extremely tough. Mine has 3000miles of abuse and still looks perfect. I think you will really like that conversion.

Well, in case anyone cares.

I went ahead and added another wheel to the center, and removed both outers.

Kinda hard to tell by the pic, but the track now adjusts like a Polaris Xtra 10, the bolts face FWD.

Shouldn't snag anything now.

Notice the bars, ATV LO bend, gave about 2 - 2.5" over stock.

I think I will also have to move the other 2 small idlers to the center somehow. I'll see what I can figure out. There's a couple holes in the rails that look like they may accept a shaft with 2 wheels.
