I believe under deceleration the RX-1 has the tendency to dive the front end. The shims should slightly reduce the amount of dive and weight transfer to the front. I'm not sure RX-1 guys are looking for more ski pressure just equal pressure on both skis. I think to much ski pressure increases the ski lift on an RX-1.

Spacer thickness

LB is right you definitely want to go to the thinner spacer on the bottom. It give you more adjustability and makes a noticeable difference. More weight transfer too.

According to the tech tip from Yamaha removing the two 10mm rear suspension control rod lower plastic shims and replacing them with 5mm shims will reduce weight transfer to the front of the machine under decelleration.

Thanks for the input, when I looked at the update again, it shows that is actually a thinner spacer. Anyways I am going to give that a shot first.

Pete 350 miles already and it's not even the start of the season yet I was one of the lucky ones found an area 10 miles SE of my cabin with 14" of pure white sugar no groomers yet but it sure seems to handle much better even in the rough stuff I did get 1625 miles on last year even without getting much snow that btw was double any other year since i've been riding I'm hoping to get 2000 this year and so far so good! Convert, so you did the whole change? Straight rate springs, links and swaybar? It seemed to make a big difference huh?

Hi steve,happy thanksgiven to you and your special ones. That milage sounds soo sweet,i am happy for you this year,i hope you guys get socked in,so you can get 3,000-4,000 lol I sure would like to see some cold come our way soon,am planning trip to the county for our christmas shutdown,but its not looking to good so far,but here in maine just wait 10 min. and it can change,good luck steve hope to see ya sometime on the trails. Oh steve,i forgot what size is 2.3 kg in thousands,i have some springs that are .330 thou. thick and 10.5" long free length,i would like to give them a try,as they are straight rate. thanks pete

Pete left the sled at the cabin till next weekend so I can't check the thickness they were a little over 10.5" long the recommended setting to start out with was 10 3/16 so the ones you have sound workable to me give em a try. Yamadave yes I did all three, links, 12mm swaybar and 2.3 springs it's still no viper but pretty close. Tippyness is virtually eliminated you still get a little ski lift going into corners hard but the ski on the trail plants itself rather than giving way to the extra weight being applied before it would come way up in the air to the point where you were sure it was going over I'm looking forward to riding it on some nice hard packed groomed trails to really get a true comparison and of course when my buddy gets off his butt I can compare it too his viper :lol:
