I have an 06 apex that I am trying to get the fuel dialed in. I have an aem air fuel gauge installed to help me set it up. I am also running a hauck fuel controller. I started this weekend with a gutted exhaust modded lower air box and fix ram air lid. took it out and it had a bad lean spot from about 7700-8900 rpm running 13.2-13.7 on the afr gauge also lean at wot running 10700 rpm gauge was reading 13.1-31.2. this was with the hauck controller maxed out for more fuel at all the settings. Thought maybe the controller just couldn't add enough fuel so removed the gutted exhaust retested. a little better but still at 7700-8900 rpm it ran13.2-13.4 and at wot it ran 13.1-13.3 again with all settings at full fuel on the controller. then removed the cut lower air box and retested still ran 13.2-13.4 between 7700-8900 rpm and 13.1-13.2 wot with the fuel settings maxed out. then ran it with just the ram air lid again with all fuel settings at stock because the consensus is that you can run a ram air lid without even adding a fuel controller got even leaner 13.2-13.7 at 7700-8900 rpm and 13.2-13.3 at wot 10700 rpm. then i put the stock lid back on so now the sled was totally stock no air box mods no exhaust mods set the fuel settings to stock and again sled ran 13.2-13.7 at 7700-8900 rpm and 13.1-13.2 at wot 10700 rpm. in all the research i've done here everyone says that 13.0- 13.1 is about as lean as you want to go if you want to hold it there for long so question is why in stock form is it running that lean at 7700-8900 rpm which is right around cruising speed and wot where you would hold it for long periods of time? could it be my hauck controller is not working properly? i thought it should have enough adjustment to add an air box mod and exhaust. has anyone else put an afr gauge on a stock sled and seen numbers that lean? if so i assume it's ok to run it at 13.1-13.7 because thats how it comes stock. any input would be great I am scratching my head and chasing my tail on this one guys thanks in advance.
