Just got some snow this week to do some grass field runs with a new to me 13 vector. Sled only has 900 miles. Motor runs great but on a wide open run with throttle pegged I am only seeing about 80mph. Just doesn't seem to pull on top end. Had my buddies 06 vector out and his would pull 90 easily on the same stretch.
I've installed a comfort spring in primary from schmidt brothers to lower the engagement rpm. Still stock rollers and weights. Secondary spring is in factory "6" setting.
After making a pass, at times I seem to catch a whiff of a burnt/hot smell. Not sure if that has anything to with issue.
I've never had a sled with such low mileage, so I suspect the motor will wake up once i get some more mileage.
Can I mark primary with a marker then see if it wears away to check how high belt is riding in primary?
Any comments?

Travis,
You and your friend are actually running about the same speed. He has a 12 % or so speedo error & yours is pretty much accurate.
That being said. Your sled should womp his unless his has been worked on.
It likely will get a little better with some more miles but it should be close to broken in at 900.
Top speed depends on conditions. Soft snow in a field you may only get an honest 80 mph.
Yes you can mark the clutches with a magic marker to check how far the belt is going.
I do not know secondary spring setting on your sled but I would think 6 & 1 is likely. You saw the six, now check to see if the other end of the spring is in hole 1.
Enjoy. A 2013 Vector is an awesome sled

I don't know with all certainty, but aren't these sleds retarded some until they hit at least a 1000 miles?Riceburner said:Travis,

If you have a short track Vector, gear it down 1 tooth on top. Better bottom and top end.

They STINK when they are new. The smell that is ..., also it will loosen up some with miles. The older vectors were very fast and geared different (I think)
In 2010 an later the spedo.s are more real world, before that , It was just a Dream!
Should see 102-104 on the BEST conditions. They run sweet around 94-98

My 05 Vector is off by 10% (fast) vs. GPS!
Travis - I'm interested in the Schmidt Comfort clutch setup! What are those 3 smaller doodads in the picture with the spring?
