OK guys, I put a set of nytro torsion springs in because I thought it was way too stiff. I also put in a set of 4 position blocks and a set of Hygear spacers. It feels really soft now and it doesn't seem to rebound all the way either. Sled is basically new w/500 mi on it. Rear shock is still at its softest position. Did I do something wrong? I can't test ride it yet though. I just want it to ride as good as my old warrior.

After 3 revalve's, and 3 skid swaps, I finally bought the Star Suspesion, including revalve's of both shocks and shortening the front shock. There is just way to much stiction in this skid do to geometry and the number of moving components. At 10,500 miles, my sled finally rides like I expected it to when I bought it. Don't be a Dave. Bite the bullet and get the kit. Robert was great to work with. Turnaround was pretty quick, even in season. Sent my shocks end of December and got everything back in a week and a half.

I agree with Viper Dave. I put a Star XTX linkage kit and the heavier Ski Doo coil spring on my Apex last year (as suggested by Star). It works great and definitely improved the ride but I still had about 3-4 inches of sag. I have stock torsion springs set on soft. A few weeks ago I sent both shocks to Star for rebuild and recalibration. They did their thing and I had the shocks back in about a week. Put it all back together and the sag in gone! Now I wish I had done that last year when I put the kit in. Can't wait for snow so I can try it out.

I thought I'd try this setup out before going the Starr route because a couple guys on here last winter said it worked. I'm just aggravated as hell that I spent 14 grand and it rode like a brick even in the softest position. I'm just a little stubborn I guess but this suspension should work with minor adjustments dammit.

Oh, I agree cool io. You'd have to pretty stubborn to beat me though lol. I was ready to leave Yamaha for good at one point. Like I said, bite the bullet and do the whole kit. You'll be much happier when you ride your sled.

So what's the bottom line here? Star linkage kit for $300, skidoo center shock spring for $50, and both shocks rebuilt and revalved for another $150? Oh boy, sounds like 5 bills. I'm gonna try my nytro spring setup first and see how it works I guess.

coolio, i am running what you are and you just need to turn the clicker up 6-8 clicks or better than 1/2 way for it to work right. i might be one of the weird people though as my war rode fine for me with the proaction once i had olins in it. brother has it riding even better now as he nitpicked the clickers and got them right deadly on. and i run a grease in my skids that is evil sticky and they work fine for me.

i had ridden viperdave sled before the star mods and as i do not sit in same area he does (much shorter than he is), it rode fine for me.

ride it first and see if you like it is the best advice i have as your sled has to work for you. mine is working fine for me.

Yeah, I was happy with 2 warriors actually for about 16k miles. I'm just waiting for the riding to start so I can check this setup out. Also, I did crank up the center shock to the max. I will turn up the clicker per your recommendation. I have the 4 position blocks set on 3. Hopefully I can use position 4 for when I have saddlebags on. I'm just nervous that it's too soft now, lol.

well my prediction with the front shock spring cranked up is it will whelie like an animal any time you are on good hardpack. i like mine set so that with the rear of the sled suspended, it is stiff to turn. i did 1 ride with 2-3 turns tighter on the front shock and the front end would hold a wheelie until almost 60mph with no effort from me to make it wheelie.

Well, so far I like the Nytro spring setup, especially with the clicker on 6. I've not had a chance to do a high speed run yet, however.
