Will there be enough theads on tension bolts if 146" track is installed with 8tooth 2.86" drivers?

Ideally you would want to set the suspension back 1", but with an offset axle and a larger rear axle wheel you could do it, without I don't think you could take up that much slack

Thanks. Will the offset axle take a beating on Friday afternoon (here in tug hill the trails could get really close to snowx track)?

Ive never used an offset axle before, just know that is one of the options for you. I was told that an offset axle was not as durable as a strait axle so in your case I would be concerned with it holding up. moving your suspension back 1" would cost next to nothing and wouldnt be too hard of a job to do if you are handy with a drill and a rivet gun.fxnytroxtx said:Thanks. I run a Nytro XTX skid in my Viper. The 144 x 15 was tight with adjusters out all the way. I switched to the 146 x 16 and I am a little over half way tightened. So, I think you would be okay until your track loosened up. At some point you might run out of adjustment, but maybe not.

Thanks for the info. Bigger wheels will probably help a bit too

Does your Viper have the stock drivers? Cause 8 tooth drivers are going to make the track more loose the 9 tooth drivers.

It had 8 tooth 2.52 drivers with the 144, but it now has 7 tooth 2.86 drivers . . . I think, man I guess I should check to make sure
The front mount of the XTX falls right on the steering gate in a ProAction chassis when matched to the Nytro XTX. I moved the mounts back about an inch to miss the steering gate. With the 144 in there it made the track too tight. This is just one of the reasons I went to the 146.
To the OP, you will have to consider any change you make to driver circumference. I figured this all out when I did the swap, but I would have to look up my notes to remember. Seems like it was less than an inch difference (on paper) but when it went in the sled it wasn't that simple. The diameter of the arc the track follows is different, but so is the location of the arc due to the size of the drivers on the shaft. Thus it ends up more of a difference then I originally thought.

well after using the search to find out a little more, cause I am interested in using a 146" track because they have a larger selection of taller lugged tracks, looks like you would be in the clear for using 2.86 8 tooth drivers and larger axle wheels (oft 8" billet wheels would look sweet as a bonus) it would work just fine http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... r+diameter
thanks for bringing up the question! and sorry I gave the wrong info at first!
here are driver diameters also of the different tooth and pitch drivers also...
