i have a 15 mtx 153" that I am replacing track on. Going to a 1 3/4" backcountry style track. I have 7 tooth drivers and 21/49 gearing. Sled is apart waiting for track to come in. If I go to 8 tooth drivers how much more top end could I possibly see? Or would I be better changing out gears and going to xtx gearing. More trail riding than off so looking for a bit more on big end. Thanks for help everyone.

When I built our MTX race sleds for cains quest, I swapped to 2.86p 9t drivers to run a 154x1.6 ice cobra track. Left stock MTX gearing in the sleds because the drivers were a big enough change, forget about speedo accuracy. 8t wont be as much of a change. I would use 2.86p driver regardless of which tooth you use, many more 154 track choices then 153.

How well did that setup work? extrovert drivers? That is the exact setup I'm looking to go with If I pick up a leftover 153 mtx.

Worked great. The MTX are SLOW out of the box. With that setup, no gearing changes, and a schmidt Bros clutch Kit, our sleds would run 145-150km/h all day long on GPS

Thanks, 90mph is all I need and It sounds like that setup does the trick, I'm used to SLOW, my Phazer does 75 mph with the clutches shifted full out. With the price difference between the trail and MTX sleds it makes sense to "trail" convert an MTX into the ultimate 50/50 machine.
