I switched this year from a 121 to a 151 and the manual is very clear that you need to run the limit strap at the tightest setting or damage to the skid insue.
Well the skid lost all of its playfulness now in deep snow. Before I could stand it straight up in deep snow and in hardpack get abour 4-5" of ski lift on accel. Now I get about 1-2" of lift on hard pack and it wont stand up at all in the deep snow.
Revolver set at 2/4
Any ideas on what to try to get it to transfer better in deep snow? I realize the extra leverage of a longer skid is working against me slightly but I cannot get it to raise up at all when I know it should be coming up some in the deep stuff. Thanks

Sorry kinger, but with all the help you have given me with my ZX2 I wish I could repay you. You were pretty much my go to guy for my ZX2 issues, so if you don't know, I sure don't.

Here is the response from ADB:
Unfortunatly a 151 will never be like your 121 on trail…and offtrail.
We had try to find how to setup a 151 and never had good results. I have no solution for you . I am really sorry.
151 is good for mountain use and only for mountain use.
My best Regards

So that stinks. I replied asking what damage may incur if I let out the strap.
I can see the way skid acts now its by no means horrible just always want that last little bit of perfection

just a guess, but im thinking any damage would be the rail tips stabbing the track, eg. when you catch air and land on the tail, the front of the skid is driven down into the track. see if you have room to mount a set of wheels at the tips on a small shaft.

Thank you Grader I will check that out. I have about 4" between the drivers and the rail tips now so its pretty close. I still cant think of where I would get damage. Its mounted in the exact same spot as it was when it was 121 jsut 15" longer out back.
I appreciate the ideas please keep them coming. Thank you

Ok got a reply back and it confirms why I was confused:
You can try a longer limiter strap. We recommend shorter strap on 151 to avoid « ratcheting » on drive sprocket in deep snow. This is the only the reason
--------------
Not sure why they couldn't just say that in the manual. I have avid extro drivers so I am going to let that strap back out and see if I can get that transfer back.

Kinger, send Pollboy a pm. He owns my old apex. We just got back from a week long trip out to West Yellowstone. The skid in that sled was a ZX-2 with 144" rail extensions. As we had talked before, I made a custom set of mounting plates for the skid. He ran it with a 3.5" setback and a 151" track. He can give you his ride impressions. I always thought it had plenty of transfer, but I had to slightly alter the geometry of the mount points in the various setback positions to clear the running board heat exchangers. I know we talked in the past, but I still have all my information on how I made the brackets and would be willing to help you out if I can. Also, Poolboy (Niko) lives in the souther Metro area, and I'm certain he'd let you take a peek at the sled if you were ever interested. Let me know if I can do anything to help you.

Thanks Grizz, let me try to let out that strap and see what the difference is. I wasjust concerned with the way the manual was written it sounded like the skid would self destruct if I didn't tighten the limit strap haha Now that I only know its for ratcheting I will let it back out and I am guessing the problem will be fixed.

Just let the strap out and worked like normal. This skid rocks. the 151 rode almost like a 121 but traction holy heck batman. My arms and shoulders just fricken hurt trying to hang on to the sled, the acceleration of the SC, dialed in clutching, is insane. Way to fast for the trails....just the way I like it haha.

Another update the 151 transfers just as well as the 121 with the limit strap let out. Back to wheelies just 15" higher then before haha.
Dang I love this skid.

Hey Kinger, if you ever get a chance, do you think you could measure your center to center (shaft to shaft)for the limiter strap for your 151 setup. I still need more transfer on my 144 and am full out on my limiter strap, but it seems short to me. I think I could get a longer limiter strap and try it....
