This spring my track will need to be replaced (2" Challenger) and this time I plan on installing extros at the same time. I've done quite a bit of research online and haven't been able to find a side by side comparison of the these two different sizes. I know the MTXs shipped with 3's, the newer RTXs shipped with 2.86's, and I think every year XTX shipped with 2.52's. I'm currently running a 19t upper gear and plan on running either a 1.5 or 1.75" lug track for next season. Is there any advantage to switching to 2.86 drivers as well?

Until something superior like a 2" pitch is available 2.52" is the best we have.

No advantage i can see other than choice of tracks. I think if you go with 2.86 pitch with 8 tooth drivers the diameter is almost the same as the 2.52 9 tooth stock drivers.

This is correct, i went from a 2.52 9t to a 2.86 8t to run a 129" x 1.6 ice cobra. I believe Travis at Barn of Parts will send you one with the drivers already pressed on a drive shaft.. so quick and easy.

Can I ask why you are going from the challenger to a 1.75? I have been debating between these two tracks for a while now.
