Installed two headgaskets, timing marks on intake and exhaust cams are almost bang-on.

I know that leaving the exhaust cam slightly off of timing (advanced) is supposed to help make more power under boost, but should I bother slotting the intake cam bolt hole to accommodate the intake cam? The timing marks seem to be so close that it looks like it would almost be a shame to shag with it.

Do most people bother with the intake cam re-timing with only two headgaskets, or is this more of an activity that pertains to head shimming?

I am at sea level running 8-12 psi of boost.

This is on an RX? Short answer is no, your timing is fine the way it is.

Not needed, but you will gain minimal HP moving the cam back to stock position.

Sorry for the hi-jack, but what will happen if the intake cam is advanced slightly? I ask because I have slotted the intake cam sprocket to have stock timing with 3 head gasket stacked, and now I run 2 stock gaskets. My intake cam timing has advanced I believe, is this correct and what effect will it have on power if any?

Yes, this is on a 2005 RX-1 and thanks for the replys.

I will not shag with the timing.

Thanks.
