Put on a 162 x 16 x 2.5 track with 7 tooth 3 pitch drivers. Dropped the gearing to 20/40...Just read that I should have a 68 link chain. Is this right and can I get by with out changing the chain.

I stepped up to 20/42 for my 162" track and it is great. You don't want to throw $100 at a chain if you don't have to. Rt

You don't find that geared to low? I just checked that the apex mountain is 20/40 which is the same ratio as 21/42.

No, I love how I can crawl around in the really deep powder with out spinning it down. I am not sure if it might be to low for steep climbs but I don't think so. Heading to Revy next week so I'll try some good climbs there.

I changed my gearing to 20/40 as well. Put in the 68 link chain. The 70 link is just about out of tension adjustment.
