Finally hit the 20,000 mile mark on the 2003 Rx1 .Wish I could say I haven't been in the engine but I have. Put new rings in at 8000 miles after I spun a rod bearing when the oil drain plug fell out. Oh well it was using oil anways . 12,000 miles on the 2005 rings doesn't use any oil between changes.
I have went thru:
- five tracks
- 6 sets of carbides
- 6 belts
- on my second suspention not counting the origanal one because I am useing that on my 95 vmax and only took it off to get a better ride
- sway bar broke at 12000 miles upgraded to a 13mm one
- Front shocks started leaking at 11000 miles
- replaced both clutches primary cracked at 13000 miles secondary cracked by the buttons at 15000 miles
- Replced two flex pipes at around 12000 miles.
- Oil tank cracked at 13000 miles
- Y pipe broke on muffler at 14000 miles (I welded that)
- Baffels in muffler starting to rattle now at 20000 miles .That will get repaired in the off season .
- a crap load of rivets have been replaced through out its life , I finally am starting to change them out with bolts and nuts.
- The skis are still stock though they are getting thin.
- Replaced front end bushings about 3 times
All and all I would have to say it been a very good sled . Some of my riding buddys give me crap when I have to wrench on it .But not one of them as ever had a sled with even close to this kind of miles .and I never had wrench on it on the trail except when a stud went through the front cooler. Most of my rides are between 200- 500 miles, and I would not hesitate to jump on it and take on a ride from central wisconsin to out west . its that depandable. Hope to get another 20000 miles on it . I have 4600 miles on it for the year trouble free . Asyou can tell last year was pricey.

I just wish I could ride that much. In 03 & 04 I did a total of around 10,000 mi and that was good. During 05-08 I havn't managed to accumulate 4000, that sucks!!
That's awesome! I just broke 3,000 miles on my 03 RX-1, I got it in 06 with just 431 miles. Here's to 20,000 miles more.

I won't see 20,000 miles in my LIFEtime! I'm in NE PA and I don't travel to ride (yet). We don't get much snow anymore and only rode 2 times this season and one of those times I was on my 79 TX 440. Our riding consists of mostly railroad tracks beds and mountain trails. No more then 20 miles per trip. My RX1 should last forever!

Thats awesome. I am just over 12,000 on my 03 unfortunately not only did I lose the original motor, 2 weeks ago I blew the new stroked 1100 CC Apex motor I put in it. I am not even going to tell you the list of parts I have put into this sled and I never regretted it but now unless I can find a wrecked unit with a working motor for cheap (even a 3 lunger) its time to move on.
I robbed the ski's, shocks, sway bar and clutching and put it onto the 05 the rest of the sled - track, suspension, body ......... can all become spare parts for those off trail experiences.
