My 02' has 2000 miles on it and is blowing black smoke out of the exhaust. The plug gits real black and sooty and the bike gets hard to start. If i take the plug out and clean it, it fires right up. Looking for suggestions on what to check.

sonds way ritch on fuel. are you the 1st owner of the bike?
2nd owner, wasn't much maintanance done on bike by previuos owner.

remove and check the air filter. might be plugged full of crap or a mouse nest. make shure the snorkel is clear as well. might have put some steel wool or something to keep the critters out in storage.
