Hey everybody. This is just my second post and this sight looks great so far. My questions is that I purchased an 04 Warrior and this is my first Yamaha. Most of hte riding that I do is in Indiana fields and ditches and then several trips a year to MI and sometimes Canada. Are there any modifications that are a must from the stock form that my sled is in. I am planning on adding a temp gauge and fuel shutoffs. I have heard some talk on this sight about heat exchangers and other cooling conerns with this sled. I am somewhat mechanically inclined however I dont know a lot about working on snowmobiles. Anyway if you guys just purchased the sled that I just got what would you do to it. PS I am not really concerned with performance upgrades, I think I will be pleased with the power, I am just concerned with maintainence and must do's to keep the sled in good shape. If this makes since thanks for the help. Sled has about 600 miles on it.

You really don't need the rear heat exchanger unless you typically ride in marginal or icy conditions, but it does help to keep the snow and ice build-up back there to a minimum.

Wider skis will help keep the front end floating instead of sinking in deeper snow.

Check the wheel bearings in the rear skid and grease all fittings often. Once a week if you have ridden that week, thats my routine.

Along the line of bearings, I'd also check the jackshaft bearing behind the secondary clutch, and the drive shaft bearing below it (behind the speedo drive). These bearings are prone to early failure if not maintained. Pop the grease seal out with a small flat screwdriver (be careful not to tear it!)and repack those bearings with a good quality synthetic low temp grease. Yammi grease sucks and if those bearings fail your stuck on the trail. That's gonna be a sweet seld man, you'll love it. BTW, I also second the aftermarket ski idea. The stockers are too narrow for the heavy nose of these beasts and the front really dives in powder. I run Simmons.

a skid plate from yamaha is a must, plus it looks sharp in grey.
