2005 seats ?

Does anyone know if the "05" RX-1 seats are that much better than previous models? I'm considering replacing my "03" seat with a current one if they will fit and aren't priced to high.

It depends on what you are looking for, but they are certainly better than the 04's. They 05's are softer and higher.

The 04 retails for about 380 US.

How can we tell if a 05 seat will fit on a 03. I'd like to get one too.

I don't see why they wouldn't. I would think the base will be the same. The tunnel and gas tank appear to be the same.

I just got a quote from a local upholsterer for new foam on my 03 seat for less than $100.00. Any thickness or density. I am starting here, if I am not happy, then I will order a new 05 seat. The Boss seat was not friendly to my saddlebags.

The 03 seats were terrible for gathering and then torn very quickly, all of our 03 were recalled for repairs. The 04's are way better but still not perfect, thats why the 05's will be the best of the bunch. They made the seat even higher to help eliminate any bag in the seat, just wish they would have changed the material. Remember the 01 & 02 SRX seats with side saddles now that material on the new 05 style would be great. Just my $.02 worth.

2700mi my foam is just getting nice now. Have not had any rips tears or rivet damage yet.

I still may get something different for next year tho.

new seat cover at 7000 miles,still soaks up water along tunnel edges,ices up,spreads out sideways,looks like hell,will complain about that for sure next time im at dealer,the foam is sure getting softer over time,7700 miles now and its almost bearable,or ive grown numb to it,dont know which ,hopefully my 06 will be better,run my 03 1 more year i guess
