Ok went for a 70 mile ride on Friday! Sled ran good! Went to use it to get to my ice shanty on Sat and the temp light came on with the symbol and got warm! Friday night i popped open the coolant cap to check the color of my antifreeze and I thought maybe the cap wasn't screwed in tight when I checked it so i thought i had air trapped because the heat exchangers aren't getting warm even when it overheats! I tried the service manual procedure for bleeding 5x still no go! It'll shoot coolant out of the bleeder hole like a jetski so I know it's getting back there! I'm stumped! Stuck thermostat maybe??

- Bought a new 05 Vector which I still have
24K miles
If the exchangers aren't getting warm it would seem to make sense that the thermostat is staying closed. Easy enough to change or at minimum...remove it.
If your water pump failed I would think that the coolant would flow just my inertia or something?

The hose leaving the thermostat assembly is soft while the one leading to it is hard as a rock under pressure making me think maybe the thermostat stuck shut or something. Of course they want $50 for a thermostat!

I had to change my thermostat to get mine under control.. Another thing you might check, see if it is 50/50% mix.... The 05 vectors had issues with that mixer.. Also our 05s/07s were not set-up for great cooling... They changed it on 08s and newer.. MM.

boil a pot of water on the stove with your sled thermostat in it and a cooking thermometer.
at 69-73 celcius it should start opening and around 85ish it should be fully open. if it does this without any hangups or hesitation the thermostat is fine
you may have lost your water pump, as that coolant heats up it builds pressure, the pump doesnt even need to be running, the engine is heating that up quickly. if you havent lost any coolant then its gonna come out the bleed line. if your foot rads arent heating up you have airlock, blown water pump, or a restriction

Yeah that's all I use is 50/50 mix! Ordering a thermostat tomorrow from Port! Maybe I'll throw mine in boiling water to see if it opens or not first!

if one side of the thermostat assembly is that cold then its gotta be stuck shut. when you pull it out make sure it has no gouges in the shaft it moves on, the boiling water show you it works. remember which side has the bleed hole on the thermostat

Try removing the stat and running the sled to see if coolers then warm up. If coolers warm up then it's faulty stat. If they still don't get warm then it could be pump.

I assume you have pumps too if the stat doesn't fix it?

It was acting up the previous year...So I did a check on my coolant witch looked and checked at 100% and just decided to say screw it and changed coolant and stat together.. Besides it was 9 years old with 11,000 miles. I can say it works better than it ever has.............MM.
