Since I plan on keeping this sled even if I get a new one, I want to get together a list of must do items for next season. It already has the updated chain case cover and the 2008 skid front arm. 2007 windshield and hot grips. With 8500 miles I know it needs work. I plan on doing this:

Replace track, Drive axle and sprockets
Replace drive chain and sprockets
Replaced rear skid rear arm with 2010 model
Front suspension bushings ( Ulmer)
Rebuild electronic Ohlin shock

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE A MUST DO AT THIS POINT?

-OFT steering bushings.
-All idlers with oversized ones or at least ones with replacable bearings.
-Clutches serviced

Service the bearings in the idlers, speedo pickup on the driveshaft and the PTO side of the jackshaft. Pop the seals off blast out the crud and repack with a needle greaser.

Most of the idlers have been changed. I have replaced the front A Arm bushing with stock Yamaha parts but they are already shot. How are Ulmer's brass ones?

As far as the clutches, should I just box them up and send them off to Mirco Belmont and telll them o go over them?

do you mind if i ask why you are changing out your 2006 rear pivot arm to a 2010 rear pivot arm? Also how do you know the parts are interchangable??

can you possibly elaborate a little? I understand the 2010 pivot arm should be a better arm. i was kind of looking for specifics about why it is better. for instance i know it has a track rub preventer but in addition to that what has changed to make it better. more gussets, heavier wall tubing?
Thanks

I was in a hurry when I replaced the rear skid front arm so rather than have mine reinforced and powdercoated I just bought the updated 2008 arm. At the time I had no idea the rear arm was known to fail. Even though mine has not broken I figure it's cheap insurance at this mileage.

Check those brake pads!!! I almost forgot the little things and ruined my rotor. Theres also a bushing kit for the rear skid, pioneer performance. Check the y-pipes make sure they are not cracked, might be a good idea to get new stainless ones and replace donuts while your there.

good point on the exhaust. I already paid the dealer to change one y pipe a couple of years ago. cost me a bundle. The flange cracked where the gasket sits.

Ulmer's are suppose to be the best, they are called oilites and are suppose to last a long time.

I also believe they need no greasing or oiling after they are installed??

your clutches can be inspected by your dealer and wearable items replaced at that time.i see people worried about driveshafts as though they know they will break at xxx miles. i put over 14000 miles on my 03 rx and currently have 10000 miles on my 05. if the drivers show excessive wear then you might want to change them. to change the axel because some have broken makes no sense to me.

Grader: I agree. I hate to just change stuff that might break, but a lot of documented cases here. I like a little insurance, and since I might not be able to buy a new one for next year, I want to make sure nothing breaks when I am up in Val d'Or or Chibigamau Quebec. That's as stuck as you can get when your truck is parked in Mt. Laurier. LOL
