Got an issue with an '06 Apex that will on occasion miss at speed, and then at idle will just die.

I went thru all the wires from the bars to the nosecone looking for a wire rubbing the frame & shorting things out. I found nothing of the sort.

What I did find was the positive battery cable was a little loose, and I mean only a little loose. So I fired the engine up and wiggled the cable & bingo!, engine would die.

So, my question is.... does the CPU need to see a certain amount of volts & if it doesn't see "X" number of volts it, kills everything? If this is the case, why? Once the engine fires, I would think the generator would be kicking out enough juice to runs things, even if the battery isn't.

The cable wasn't loose enough to totally disconnect from the terminal, but loose enough to cause a drop in voltage I'm guessing???

Two of the times when it died at idle, when I tried to restart it, it showed code ER-1. What is code ER-1?

Thanks for any help!!

Ever start your car and remove the battery? The car will die. Same with your Apex. The electrcial systems needs a complete crcuit run be able to function. A loose battery cable can cause havoc in the electronics.

Makes sense. The battery, even if dead, needs to be there to complete the circuit.

The way I see it though, is that the cable isn't totally losing connection, just loose enough to drop voltage when it wiggles/moves/virbrates, and why would this kill the engine?
