Last season I put a new Excell exhaust on my Attak. I stated that i needed earplugs to ride it because it was loud. It has a droning noise, not get pulled over loud. Anyway, I lost alot of snap and top end when I put the exhaust on. My question is can the sled be made to run with the Excell exhaust on it, or should I put the stock exhaust back on. I stretched the sled out to a 144", and didn't re-gear it, maybe that would help. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

To reap the full benefits of the exhaust you should clutch for it and install a power commander.

It's not the exhaust where you lost your snap... The excell exhaust gives a 5hp increase on the bottom and mid range and 1hp on top end. So that is not it. Stretching it to a 144" without re-gearing and re-clutching is your problem.

I geared my 144'd Attak to 21/38 per Ulmer's recommendation. PLENTY of SNAP LOL! Gear it down and you'll be happily surprised !!

- None, looking now!
hey dave, how much did that hurt your top end? I ran a 23t in my 144, still had some snap, that's with a blower though.

With the 144 x 1.5 CrossCountry track and the gearing I am still seeing 117-119 on long runs. Pretty happy with that! Pulls 10,800-10,900 for RPM's

i regeared my 144" to 22/38 which made me get the 68L chain. all per ulmer. i still see around 120 easly and it pulls like a raped ape. whatever that means. rpms still sit around the 10,8 10,9 mark also... i have the 1.25x15 predator track...
