2006 ATTAK Sled Review on Maximum Sled World Wide

The 05 RX-1 is 5 pounds heavier then the Mach Z with Electric start, with 5 gallons of fuel, oil reservoirs full, equipped with trail carbides, and studded equally.

How much lighter is the Apex compaired to the 05 RX-1?

No clue then as to why they worded it that way as .6 gal is only 4 lbs unless the weights are THAT close and they wanted a fudge factor no matter how small.

Heard 3 different numbers 11, 14 and 17 lbs. I think 14 is the right one.

Hondo,
During our 06 presentation Yamaha was quick to point out "with full tanks of fuel"

So my take on the whole thing is Apex has 10 gallons of fuel and the MZ has around 12. I am not all that knowledgeable of Doo product.

You need to subtract 12 lbs, provided I read your post right and that the Doo does carry more fuel, which it would need to more closely match the Apex refueling range.

[EDIT] gas wt is 6.25 lbs at 72 degrees. At the temps we sled in I think it is over 7lbs. Jet fuel at cruise altitude is suppose to be over 7lbs because it too gets more dense in cold temps.

The Mach Z has a 10.6 gallon gas tank. Doo has the Mach Z-X at 529lbs dry without electric start.

OK NOW: Mach Z-X at 529 lbs dry weight. Add 85 lbs for fluids (fuel, 2 stroke oil, and brake) = 614 lbs Hmm... Pretty close aren't we?

One (1) pound off Ref a. Maximum Sleds weight for Mach Z-X (rope start) was 613 pounds. LaLaLa

This isn't rocket science!

i know the o6 sleds are great.....but i still love the looks of the 05"s
i wish yammi would have kept the same chassis style. almost every time i stopped for gas last winta.....someone was oogling my pretty blue vector........"iz that a 4 stroke" they would say or" beautiful machine how fast will she go". its time for the 4-strokes to rule.......good by ol 2smoke piston burpin pigs :4STroke:

never hit no coyote"s but i got 2 wabbits an 2 ruffed grouse

I can't stand when the MFG's use dry weights. Who in the hell drives with no oil or chain case fluid etc..... fill them up with 5 gallons of gas and weigh them all. This is a fair comparison. Or better yet, top them off with fuel.

They use dry weights to make them seem lighter.
Its sort of like how Cat, Doo and Poo measure their rear suspension travel by measuring the arc of the rear axle as it moves through the suspension's travel.
At least Yamaha is still honest in that reagard, they still measure the travel at the middle of the rail.
Cap'n

Totally agree y_guy, top them off, weigh them, and get on with it.

It's nice to see the Apex's within a few pounds (+/-) of Mach Z which also is no "lightweight".

If Apex's are lighter than what I came up with that's even better.

Until factory, or someone weigh's Apex and ATTAK, and shows me true factual operating weights, I'm going to stand by what I came up with.

Yamaha is certainly headed in the right direction.
