I did some work to my sled this fall, it has 4600 miles. I changed every bearing, new hyfax, and installed a 1" track with 144 1.1250" studs with a fully clipped track. After breaking in the hyfax on the local pond the best I could get with the stock clutching was 113mph. I then played around with a Heel clicker kit and after some tuning I got a best of 118mph. It is supposed to have better belt squeeze on top with the swing out arms so it must work. I also ground off one tooth on my reluctor wheel and my speedo read only 1-2 mph higher than the Radar observed. Overall I'm happy with the current setup and I still have the stock 22 tooth top gear. I know the charts say it can't do that speed but the conditons were perfect, 30 deg with 1" of powder on glare ice. These were probably 1/2 mile flat out runs.

Awesome! I think that is the best gear for that sled.
Are you using the new dragon fly weights?
Have you tried any other clutch kits?

No, just the Heel Clickers with 0g in the arms and 3g in the tips with a black primary spring, secondary stock. With the setup in the instructions the sled was a turd, wouldn't pull the rpm's. I also re-aligned my clutches (they were out). My brother's 07 RTX was there also with a 23 tooth gear and extrovert drivers and he couldn't get past 110mph.

What else have you done? machine the clutches?

69redmach1,
How much was the speedo off before you removed one tooth on the sender?

OK, I still am curious as to how much the spedometer is off by if you do not cut any teeth off of the sender? Is the error about the same on all Apex's & Attak's?
How could the spedometer be correct but the odometer be off? They both rely on the same sending unit. Is there an internal error in the instrument cluster?

So the Heel Clicker clutch kit needs to be "dialed In" for each sled? I too have a 2007 RTX that is stock and was thinking about trying the Heel Clicker but I'm clueless on install and adjustments. Heard it was straight forward install (no special tools) but I'd be lost on adjustments. Does the kit come w/ different weights? Is this how you adjust? I know thes sound like dumb questions but I've never touched a clutch other than to change a belt.
Curious if you noticed better acceleration on the low end, heard it helps both top and bottom.
Thanks

Good run, but I do question the speedo read out. I have to 2 cut off my gear and it is 1/2 mph below my GPS speed. Usually 1 tooth is still out by 6-7mph off radar/GPS. Next time you run bring a GPS, plus the radar and then post your results. I just don't believe you can pull that speed with that gear, since most of the best tuners can only pull 114-115 with that gearing and that is on perfect conditions.
I havent removed a tooth, but I got 118.8 mph with a 136" '07 Rtx with a ulmer clutch kit.
No other engine, gears, clutch modifying.
That was on 2" fresh snow on the road with GPS. 118.8 mph!
Sled had 1800 miles on it.
My speedo was reading 127 or something like that the last time I looked down.

The other RTX that was with me has two teeth ground off and seems to read 3-4mph low. Mine reads a couple of mph high. We radared every run and I would watch my speedo to compare. You think the radar may be reading high? I'll bring the gps next time but it's very hard to get condtions like that, 1/2' of power on glare ice, probably won't get that again this year. With the Heel Clickers set up by the instructions my sled would barely hit 110mph. I had to keep removing weight.

I radared my 2007 rtx this weekend ran 112 mph speedo read 127. I have seen 132 on the speedo but did not have a gps or radar at that time.
At 109 on radar my speedo was 123. It gets more off the faster you go.

What does a 136mph speedo reading usually equal?
