2008 Nytro MTX w/ MBRP hitting rev limiter

Hey Guys,

Been trolling the forums for a bit, figured I should make an account and post up since it seems like a decent place for advice.

Couldnt find anything (if anyone else can then please point me in that direction) on the forums where someone had the same problem

Here it is,

I have a 2008 Nytro MTX with an MBRP Pipe. Stock everything else. 4800 kms (appx 3000 miles). When riding I seem to hit the rev limiter quite easy (bounces around 9300 rpm). If I stay under or near the half throttle point the sled pulls hard and strong until about 120-130km/h. Anything over half throttle and it will bounce off the rev limiter. The ODD time, it will even limit my speed to about 95-100km/h. This is primarily on trails and open fields. Deeper snow doesnt seem to have this issue AS MUCH, but it still happens (maybe because I am on and off the throttle more)

Has anyone else had, or heard of an issue like this? I dont know if it has to do with the MBRP pipe or not because the sled came with the pipe. I do have the stock pipe that I could give it a test with to see if it will still do it. However I have been doing a little thinking, some things that come to mind to fix the issue are

A: Get a slightly looser spring to let the primary grab the belt harder and earlier into the RPMs therefore reducing the top RPM and stopping the limiter.
B: Get heavier weights which will do similar to A
C: put a spacer into the secondary which will help drop the belt into the secondary a little sooner lowering the overall RPM of the machine.

What would you recommend doing as a first check? Anyone else have any other suggestions before I start taking off clutch components?

Cant wait for some great advice!!

Thanks

:sled1:

You will probably end up with the weights loaded . I think mine are 17.2 solid in the tip, 17.2 solid in the mid and 17.2 hollow in the heel. On a fresh groomed trail I can still hit the limiter.

Holy crap, Nitris...you are from Yorkton too?? what are the chances of that.

I have to check on the rivet holes when I get home.

Edit: Looks like the stock setup is empty rivet holes for an 08 MTX. I might stop by local dealer and grab some and get them in see how it changes.

Just talk to the guys at Schrader's and tell them what you have. Harley told me what rivets I needed and that's what I am running right now. Empty weights are for the mountains.

Went ant got the recommend rivets for our altitude. Hope to get them installed tonight and go for a little rip to make sure that its right.

Thanks for input guys!! Will post up once I test it out!

110% better. Pulls long and strong right around 9k rpm. Easy install.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. No more spitting and sputtering. Can't wait for the weekend.
