hi,

I wanted to ask this community what the best first mod for this sled would be.

I have done two minor ones (stiffer springs in rear, li-ion battery)

I read about people doing front ends and rear ends, which one should be dealt with first?

so an Arctic Cat power claw seems to be a popular one on the forums here?

And after that was thinking about a 1500-2000 little overhaul :)

First mod I would do if I had it to do over again would a steering relocater. From OFT. There are others out there but fit and finish hands Down goes to OFT. Track would be second. I went with powerclaw. Camoplast extreme. Is the other choice. Both are great tracks for the nytro and will change sled drastically. Then skins or zeros front end. Then rear suspension to drop weight. I did mine a little different. But that is the order I would do it if had to do it over. Sled is pretty good now but working on getting skinz front end next year.

Awesome sir,

Thanks for that info, so with the front end upgrade are you planning on upgrading front shocks too?

Currently I am running the original FOX floats with the bark buster. The big plan is to upgrade them to the raptor shocks Offered through Kmod and the skinz kit. I have been reading some reviews on SW. They are no heavier then the floats but offer more adjustability However if money falls short I will just buy the update kit that turns the FOX floats into the EVOL's which is a much better shock

It is hard to put my finger on the best mod. I find all the mods seem to compliment each other. I enjoy the OFT relocator. I also enjoy the Powerclaw. The hook up of the Powerclaw is night and day compared to the Mav. I was almost torn off the sled when I first hammered on the throttle!

My personal priority list would be:

1) Tether and roll over valve (safety first...)
2) Steering relocator (low cost compared to some items below...)
3) Challenger Extreme track
4) Skinz or other "move forward and relax caster" front end
5) Running boards that will not collect snow
6) Skid with better weight transfer characteristics (personal preference)

My recommendations

1) grizz gusst kt
2) mountain tech skid plate. Or make custom skid plate also saved my #*$&@ this season
3) track anything but thatt peso on there now
4) ROV FROM OFT RACING! saved my #*$&@ all season
5) evol r or float 2's with skinz front end

That will bring you to 2500 - 3000or so. Depending on shock options If you have more money

6) rear suspension
7) add power. Turbo? Excellent exhaust. Personally Id do 1,2,4 before Id even ride it.

Did you have issues with hyfax wear on the Power Claw? I'm running the track looser than I did with the Maverick and I'm burning sliders up like crazy again. Even with scratchers.

Is your track fully clipped. I was told that you need to fully clip the track Not sure that would cause wear on the hyfaxs but it could contribute to it I had an issue running the stock suspension right at the bend at the front of the rails. when i went with aftermarket skid i dont have an issue anymore. I am currently running a 163 powerclaw

where to start

the most notable influences i felt would be the track, personally i loved the powerclaw over the challenger! then i would say a tie between steering relocate and rear suspension. but i have not gotten the + 4 forward front suspension and what i hear its the bees knees.probably one of the more notable changes. you will also want to change out the running boards this was first for me as i could not even stay on the sled at times because of the snow build up. but what ever you do it will help and make it even more enjoyable s.g.

Sorry for getting a response kinda late...I just noticed it now. Yeah, I do have an issue of burning sliders right at the bend after installing the powerclaw. I burnt one side only which is weird and I don't know why. I haven't replaced it, but it is worn almost through and stopped. The other side still looks brand new.
