I was just over on the Polaris website and see they have introduced the 2008 models. The lineup gives new meaning to the phrase Bold New Graphics! Was told by the polaris rep last year that for sure there would be a new muslesled (and I do not mean Dragon). Expect the snowmobile division to be sold this summer!

I just checked the site to, if you look at the Mt. sleds they have a new 800cc engine w/154hp. Too bad its not in a trail sled! Probably next year. If its more reliable than the new ski doo 800 they would have real winner...on the two stroke side of life.
I was on the web site and all I could figure out was the 600RR was kind of suppose to be the new big release? It does look pretty good, compared to their other offerings. But, I guess that is there big release compared to the Nytro or the Doo? I dont get it, I guess they just dont care anymore! Thats to bad, in my opinion competition only brings us all better sleds!

Now that is very possible. I have been hearing alot of legit sounding details on Poo getting out of the sled biz. My info comes from factory suppliers such as the carbide companies, track companies.etc....
I have heard even more that hasn't hit the net, but I'll leave it at that.

Might very well happen before the end of the decade, the fusion was not up to snuff.Very sad for the sport to lose one of the big four but have faith,HONDA entered the watercraft market when polaris and arctic cat dropped out,HONDAS sled exist, and will see production when polaris leaves.AQUATRAX=SNOWTRAX.Hope they got the name copy-righted.
Polaris 2008
Polaris didn't have anything new in their display at the Brooklyn Center Show last night! They said they didn't have time to put anything together?

Re: Polaris 2008
Yeh, like the last 10+ years they haven't had time I guess. Well I guess it was so long ,it finally made my uncle jump ship from Polaris back to Yamaha. He really likes his new turn key start Vector GT.

Well I for one have good things to say about their lineup from my perspective being a crossover fan...outstanding improvements to their Switchback line offering 600 CFI, 700 CFI, and FST, plus Dragon versions of the 2 stroke 136s. Brand new coupled rear suspensions to make 'em more trail friendly, the Dragon setup with great shocks and high-riser bars is a pretty sweet looking setup IMO. Brother has an 07 600 CFI switchback that I rode some. My only compaints were that the rear suspension didn't handle trail bumps well and the bars didn't go high enough for comfort. And for 08 both of those problems were solved. On the downside, they're still running Ripcrap like all their competition, but an easy fix with many options since they still have the 2.52 pitch drivers. And I have more faith in the 700 CFI than the 800R Doo motor...and apparently so does Poo since they're offering a 3 year bumper to bumper to warranty for spring orders.
494 lbs dry weight, and Poo have been one of the more honest dry weighers in the real-world comparison. Wet weight differences puts this sled almost 100 lbs lighter than my Attak. Probably a bit heavier than Renegade, but not a huge margin.
It's on my shopping list...still having a hard time convincing myself to go back to 2 smoke, but I do like their Switchback line. Decision time coming soon as spring order incentives die. Or weight 'till mid season as an alternative.
What to do, what to do...

With the total industry sales dropping like a rock do you blame them.

I'm really impressed with Polaris linbe upo this year.
They also put the ditch banger sled in a 136" chasis this year like cat and doo have.
Yamaha needs to take some notes in that area.

Polaris and Cat are stupid. Go look at there linups and compare them to Yamaha or Doo. You don't need 50 different models. Yamaha was smart when they went to a limited lineup.

I agree with this. Yamaha should offer all it's sleds in a 136 also.
Phazer 121, 136, Mountian 80 hp
Vector 121, 136, Mountian 120 hp
Nitro 121, 136, Mountian 130 HP
Apex 121, 136, Mountian 150 Hp
Untility sled
Models offered
Pol 31
Yam 23
Cat 38
Pol has 4 models that are same everything - just different track length choices.
Cat has 4 as well that are just track length related.
Track length options is an area that is most commonly complained about with the new Yams.
Yam is limited in the motors that are offered - that is what keeps their lineup a little smaller. Not a bad thing.
Would be sweet to see Yam make a new version of the SnoScoot in the $2300 range.

In some ways yes. But I will also say that Yamaha's limited lineup is definitely costing them my business this year...and I doubt I'm alone. It's all related to the limited 136 thing. I've been wanting Yami to compete directly with Crossfire/Renegade/Switchback for many years now. They simply never have....not since they discontinued their 2 strokes anyway. There were some 136 Moutain Max's that were actually darn good crossover contenders back in the late 90's, but that's pretty much where they flat stopped participating in the crossover market. My Attak just doesn't cut the mustard compared to the competition in that particular class. And it seems that class is becoming more popular each year
. Yet Yamaha doesn't seem to want to play there. I don't quite get it....
