Here is my guess
heavier idlers to reduce warping, wider replaceable bearings
thicker Y pipes, misc bracket thickening or additional stiffening brackets in the suspension. Possibly a seperate power box for the improved warmers and thicker dual walled gas tanks mandated by the government.
People think it is the exact same sled, but things are generally improved each year although some may gripe about the additional weight.

extra cooling/coolant- rear heat exchanger and radiator/fan...that would be an easy 15-20#. love my apex but yamaha is going to need something big next year.

It could be a typo but they list the LTX ski stance at 42.7" for both years but over all width is 48" for 08 and 45.7" for 09. Rear travel has gone up .1". Possibly slightly different suspension arms.

Good question. 09 improvements weigh in or just more realistic weight? Either way we wanted weight to be less not more in 09. Wonder if weight of doo GSX XR is correct around 530lbs but still 130hp not 150hp. But 70 lbs more for LTX? That is alot!
