Get yourself some ice scratchers. They seem to help with overheating but don’t cure the issue by any means. Overheating is an issue with low snow icy conditions but it is manageable. Not much air flow through the radiator some people have had good luck with putting a vent kit as well.

It is a good sled but it does take some time to get it dialed in. If you have never ridden one get yourself a steering relocater. There are a few out there to choose from. It moves the handlebars into a more natural position.

Good luck with it

I do the same with mine. I haven't had any heating issues, but it eats sliders like it's going out of style unless you run scratchers. I'm at about 1700' elevation and it over rev's as well with stock clutching.

Yammerhead:

Sea Level Kit for the MTX. Available from your dealer, or aftermarket. Changes primary spring, top gear and chain...maybe weights too....can't remember.

All mtx's come from factory geared for elevation >2000m. If you are at or near sea level, you'll need the kit otherwise it'll over-rev all the time.

I have a 47 deg helix and pink secondary spring sitting on my bench. I was in the mountains last spring and didn't ride around here much after that, so I haven't got around to putting them in. According to the smart guys here, that combo will dial my revs in for my elevation.
