Is there a heavier spring available for the XTX like the mountain skid has for it? The suspension bottoms out if I drive it really agressively. I looked at the parts betwee the mountain skid and the XTX skid and the first couple numbers are different 8HL vs 8HA. Does any one know if the heavy mountain spring works in the XTX skid or is there another option to create more spring rate in teh rear skid.

the mountain rears are ohlins air shocks to my knowledge

I meant the torsion springs. Nytro mountain have a couple different options for spring rate but only on listed for the XTX skid.

rear torsion springs

i had the same problem with my 09 xtx. went to the yamaha dealer and picked up some apex springs. there pretty heavy duty just have to cut about 3 inches off of them, they work perfect i have mine on soft and dont come close to bottoming out.

I see that they make a heavier set of torsiuon springs for the 08/09 mountain skids. I looked at them and they look a little thicker and very close to the same length. I might have to cut off an 1/2 inch to make sure they do not come close to the track. I is surprizing Yamaha does not have this heavier torsion spring option for the XTX rear skid.

I was thinking the same.
Even after I have installed HyGear torsion spacers.
The rear springs in my XTX seem lacking to me.

The 2008 FX Nytro Standard has the following part listings.
Item 62
8GL-47473-00-00 SPRING, REAR 1 (K=1900NMM/DEG)
8GL-47473-10-00 SPRING, REAR 1 (K=2100NMM/DEG)
Item 63
8GL-47474-00-00 SPRING, REAR 2 (K=1900NMM/DEG)
8GL-47474-10-00 SPRING, REAR 2 (K=2100NMM/DEG)

2009 FX Nytro RTX has the floowing part listings.
Item 67
8GL-47473-00-00 SPRING, REAR 1 (K=1900NMM/DEG)
8GL-47473-10-00 SPRING, REAR 1 (K=2100NMM/DEG)
8GL-47473-20-00 SPRING, REAR 1 (K=1400NMM/DEG)
Item 68
8GL-47474-00-00 SPRING, REAR 2 (K=1900NMM/DEG)
8GL-47474-10-00 SPRING, REAR 2 (K=2100NMM/DEG)
8GL-47474-20-00 SPRING, REAR 2 (K=1400NMM/DEG)

The 2009 FX Nytro MTX has the following parts listings.
Item 62
8HA-47473-10-00 SPRING, REAR 1 (K=1100NMM/DEG)
8FS-47473-00-00 SPRING, REAR 1 (K=1500NMM/DEG)
Item 63
8HA-47474-10-00 SPRING, REAR 2 (K=1100NMM/DEG)
8FS-47474-00-00 SPRING, REAR 2 (K=1500NMM/DEG)

The 2009 Apex MTX has the following parts listings.
Item 59
8FS-47473-00-00 SPRING, REAR 1 (K=1500NMM/DEG)
8FK-47473-10-00 SPRING, REAR 1 (K=2100NMM/DEG)
Item 60
8FS-47474-00-00 SPRING, REAR 2 (K=1500NMM/DEG)
8FK-47474-10-00 SPRING, REAR 2 (K=2100NMM/DEG)

So here are the questions.
What rate "K" is the stock XTX torsion springs?
Will only the Apex MTX springs be long enough? (with cutting)
Will the shorty Nytro springs fit? (or are they too short)

Cheers

I purchased the 08 mountain torsion springs, which are 1500 and the regular ones are 1300. They are a little thicker and I had to cut off about 2" off the end of the torsion spring. They fit perfect after shortening them. I figure they will be a little stronger considering I shortened them, but considering I rode the stock springs on High and bottomed it out lots, I should be able to ride with these new springs on soft or medium with no bottoming out problems. I'm probably about 260lbs with all my gear and ride the XTX very hard all day long.

Have you tried playing with the high speed compression adjustment knob on the rear shock? Not saying that you don't need more spring rate to handle the weight, but shock valving is typically what controls bottoming resistance. Too much spring rate will have the back end bouncing all over the place on bigger bumps. If your rear compression clicker is set in the middle (factory), you could definitely add a few clicks to see what that gets you. Just write down everything you do so you can return to stock if necc.

So then the XTX stock springs are 1300s.
That does seem on the softer side of the scale.
They are sort of pricey so I don't want to make a mistake when I order harder springs.

I'm going to order some new springs.
I just want to be sure the stock XTX rear springs are rated 1300
Is there a marking with rate stamped on the spring somewhere?

Changed my mind.
For now, I'm going to try the X-click 4 position blocks from Hiperf.com
If the 4th pos. doesn't work for me I'll opt for heavier springs.
