2009 Yamaha Nytro RTX, pretty much bone stock
hey all I have a 09 Nytro rtx and wondering what I can run for replacement bogey wheels? I have hyfax wear issues and was told I could get bigger wheels to help but don’t know what’s the best to order. Also if possible I’d like to get some that I may be able to pick up at a a dealer rather than order. Any suggestions are appreciated

I have 11 RTX. Where is it wearing the most? Mine has the marginal snow kit which really seems to help.

lots swear by the excell wheels.

Yep, 135mm Excell wheels and low snow wheels up front at the curve. Kimpex also makes a 135mm wheel which is a direct swap and looks stock. Both use 6004 bearings and are replaceable.

polaris wheels from 90s, bolt right on with some spacing needed and have 6205s and last forever. I used the mounts too, because I had them and they are beefier. changed my slides 1 time in 24k miles marginal wheels dont hold up for a season, but I found with bigger wheel swap that the leading edge wasn't a problem anymore

Adding larger wheels with the single bolt mounts on the 09 Nytro is asking for problems, I had two rails crack with the larger wheels on my Nytro while trail riding.

Do a search on here I’m not the only one who cracked rails with the larger wheels.

I’m having significant wear towards the front of the skid before the cure up

Install ski doo or polaris 135mm wheels. I'm running the 135mm idlers on my stretch 136" RTX and have no issues with rail or hyfax wear. I also added a couple extra sets of idlers and my skid has been relocated back so with the improved approach angle there's minimal wear in the front. I don't run them but the DuPont slides are suppose to last longer so you might want to start there then make the idler wheel change if you're still having excessive wear.

Go oversized wheels and add a Low-Snow wheel kit at the front bend of the rail. The Dupont slides are a waste of money. Your stock wheels likely do not have replaceable bearings so you will need to replace them at some time anyways. Whether they are Excel, Doo wheels, or whatever, they should have replaceable bearings in them so the wheels will last as long as you own the sled. This way you can run the cheapest hyfax you can find. I ran this set up on my extended Phazer and had over 5,000 miles on this setup. The hyfax wore initially like 2mm and didnt wear any more after 5,000 miles. And now I am running this same setup now on my extended Nytro. G.B.

When adding additional wheels you can use the Ski Doo mounts or buy the Yamaha mount used for the torsion spring saddles. If you add wheels toward the rear make sure they're mounted behind the upper wheels so when the suspension collapses they don't hit. Those little marginal snow wheels mounted in the front didn't last very long for me.

Grizz, I think the Schmidt Bros low-snow wheel kit uses a larger diameter wheel than the Yamaha one. My Nytro came with this kit installed and I will have to measure the wheel diameter but I am sure they are larger. G.B.
