2010 Venture TF - Ride impressions

track howl has always been there
same with clutch rattle
ya get used to it
when mine is in poor snow conditions i load up the runningboards
with snow to keep the engine cool
it lasts 10 minutesor so
i kick snow into the track too

both of my sets of sliders did the same thing
down to 30% after a very short time
then stayed that way for 8,000mi the first time
and now 5,500mi so far this time

my buddy got snoscratchers for his
i may think about that 1 some more
dry and cold is hard on sliders

Had a nice ride yesterday 2-up on the TF into wide open country (Western Brook Gorge, NL) still lots of snow and excellent riding conditions - hard pack with just enough fluff to keep it cool. I must say the smooth power of the triple is very nice and my top speed on a lake with just myself and most extra gear (lunch bags/gas cans removed) was 150Km/h very briefly on a slightly rough lake with the snow a bit soft in the late afternoon. That's plenty fast but someone else said that they reached 150 with more to go. So I don't know if my 9" carbides and skisavers cause some drag? I switched for a short ride on a '09 non turbo Bear Cat that has a much higher seating position and a very roomy but uncomfortably wide seat. But no thanks on the feel and power compared to the TF - it had more of a utility feel to it for sure - the TF is starting to grow on me now.
BTW, I now have my torsion spring at the softest setting and it is still plenty stiff for two-up with no bottoming.

I lost a lot of top speed when I replaced my stock skis with Simmons Gen 2. Although we had more snow on the lake this year than last, so depth of snow could have played a part too.
