if you go to yamaha usa site, they list a hp rating. 150 still. its still the same engine. all they did was swap some parts. intake cam and added exup with a knock sensor. how disapointing. at least the yamcharger will bolt right up. but what i dont get is they say more power but still list hp at 150. fox floats all around on the se. the new rtx.

I'm going to say it will make 157-160HP with the new technology incorporated. Most of this will be as a result of the exhaust valve..

If you go to the beginning of the video and go to the engine area, they state at the very beginning it is still 150 HP, with a much wider torque band..

In the Video they say they increased the HP by 5%. That is 7.5 more HP @ 150 so it should be around 156. I think even it its max is still 150 HP I can see the curve being changed quite a bit.

I'm thinking 5-7 more hp they would still call it the 150fi anyways seeing they call the nytro the 130fi and its closer to 140 just my thoughts

Just talked to my dealer. More HP and Torque....
Call your dealer and see if they tell you the same thing.

In XTX garb, this sled should be more than 10 mph faster than current Apexes, no?

disappointing. i love all the changes and they do make sense, but to stay in the 150hp class after no changes for years it sad. I expected either a new Apex in the 170hp class, or a new Apex in a Nytro-style chassis in the 150hp class but lighter. I loved the pull of my '07 Apex RTX far better than my "09 Nytro XTX, but i prefer the handling of the Nytro. I was really hoping Yamaha would bring these two designs together with a bigger HP Nytro-styled sled.

How the 150 is delivered is the key I guess because I rode a 2011 against a 10' LTX and ate it up. Keep in mind the 2011 had 213 miles on it so it will get better as it loosens up.

Keyword here is "class". I know my insurance agent looks at how much HP a sled makes when they quote my premiums.

i agree.......

the vector is a "120" with actual 126hp

nytro is a "130"with actual 138hp

apex will be "150" with 157 or so actual HP most likely.

sure we all wanted 170hp but as i said all along yammie wont do a SC or Turbo and i figured small bump only.

what i didnt hear is anything about a lowered engine or tilted engine....i swear that one pic looks to be tilted back more.
