On par with Rx1 to Apex improvement from 06.ROCKERDAN said:i agree.......
the vector is a "120" with actual 126hp
nytro is a "130"with actual 138hp
apex will be "150" with 157 or so actual HP most likely.
sure we all wanted 170hp but as i said all along yammie wont do a SC or Turbo and i figured small bump only.
what i didnt hear is anything about a lowered engine or tilted engine....i swear that one pic looks to be tilted back more.

I heard it's 7-8hp more which will put it about 157-160 depending on the sled. But, there is no reason why they can't build a 170-180 hp in Naturally Aspirated without a Turbo. Turbo's are great for Mountain and lake racing, but N/A is better for trail riding. Yamaha claims to be a motor comapny, so why don't they build it...

The horse power thing will never make you guys happy. Maybe they should claim 180+ like the turbo cat and you guys would line up. The cat is not that fast and there is a s**t load of disappointed people that bought them on the hp numbers. Meanwhile my 150 hp loves racing them and seeing there faces when they dont or barely beat me. If you want to go 200 mph look at the aftermarket as Yamaha wont make you happy with hp numbers ever!

you know the funny thing. when they came out they were a 600 class sled. then they started beating the bigger sleds, so they became 700, now they are 800.
it takes a well working sled of any size to pass the attak, but i want a little bit more, just for those well working sleds!

Just got off the phone with my dealer. Apparently there was a video that the dealers got announcing more info than the public received.
"Apex motor is 19hp over last years Apex..."
Can anyone else tell me if this is true?

I did some calculations.
Chris has said it has 5% more HP on top. That translates to 158 HP.
I believe the new power peak to be 10,200
The old power peak was 10,600(Correct me if I'm wrong), at 150 Hp that is equal to 74.3 lbs of torque
The new engine because of the lower RPM and Higher HP. mathematically should make 81.35 or 9.5% more torque before gear reduction.
Assuming same gear reduction 23.3%(is this right?), you would get just over 100lbs at the primary vs 91 lbs on the '10, nice 10% improvement.
With the knock sensor and not having to worry about blowing the motor, peal the head gasket for another 3-4, and a Yamacharger and you should be good for 180Hp and 115 lbs of torque, very nice.
