OK guys I've read lots about the older Apex's not starting on COLD days. I had an '06 Attak and it always started. Well this year my 2011 Apex wouldn't start on either Saturday or Sunday morning. When I turned the key the fuel pump did not cycle, so I tried cranking engine with no luck. It wasn't even cold either day (Sat -10 C and Sun -2C). I took the side cover off and rubbed my hand over the relays. I did it about 3-4 times and each time tried the key to see if the pump would cycle. Finally it did and it fired right up. I didn't have any trouble on the trail after breaks etc, only in the morning.
Luckily I was with the wife and kid and not my buddies or I'd never hear the end of it.
Has this happened to anyone else? Do I have a faulty fuel pump relay?
Thanks in advance.

snoguzzler1,
Awesome pic! I cant wait until I can take the youngin' for a real trail ride, not just around the yard!
I dont think getting the wifey on a sled will be too easy though. she refers to it as stoopidmobiling and hates the cold, lol.
Its awesome that you can make sleddin' a family event.

Your the first I have heard of this problem. I had it happen once on my 07 and not yet on my 11'. I would try a new relay possibly some moisture in it causing your issue. I see what your saying about your buddies giving you hell about it if they saw it. I ride with a couple of new cats and heard all summer how great they were gonna be and now they are both having problems and I have been giving them hell about it lol! I have 900 miles trouble free and hope I don't end up having it not start one morning or I will never hear the end of it good luck!

It's in for the first service right now. They are supposed to check out the no start problem. I will keep you guys posted. I have about 1100km on it.
I was also hearing the belt squeal every now and again and mentioned that to them as well. Other then that i love it. Reminds me of a Viper only with awesome suspension and WAY more zip!

The only problem with them checking the no start is that it will be in the warm shop. Hard to get frozen relays in the warm shop. I'll put my money on a frozen relay.

And carry a spare.
Snoguzzler, is your dealer the one in Castleton? I heard good things about them. Doug's I believe?

update: I just got the sled back yesterday but havent tried it. The dealer replaced the fuel pump relay under warranty. He said there is a service bulletin (or something like that) on the 2010/2011 as the relays some of them came with would freeze up. Something to do with packing in them would hold moisture?? The part number for the one on my work order is 8HG-81951-00. Hopefully it is fixed.
Irv - yes it is Doug's in Castleton. I really like the service and people there. I have a dealer 5 minutes from my house - Motorsports of Trenton but I still drive the 1/2 hr to Dougs.

Looking at the microfiches for both the 2011 and 2012 Apexes, the relays are different.
2011 relay is # 8HG-81951-00-00
2012 relay is # 8HG-81950-09-00
Is the latter the one that was installed?
Still don't understand that after so many years, these relays are still such a common issue.
