I really love this sled, the way it handles and rides. At first 95mph was top end. At 700 miles or so 104 mph was top speed. At 1,000 miles 106mph with a head wind. It just keeps getting faster and impressing me more all the time. Acceleration is fantastic and thrilling to say the least with great hook up on hard pack. Will smoke my old warrior with ease!
Transfer is all there for sure, it wants to pick the front end up, way up! I cut back on the transfer but wheelys are the norm for this skid. You can pound the hell out of it way past what I like to ride as I'm not a stand up rider. I did try standing and was impressed with how well it handled badly whooped trail. For touring it handles the chop quite well. Not as smooth as my ZX2 but well enough to ride at a fast pace with no lose of control. I find it to be an excellent trail sled.
It has inside ski lift with agressive 8 inch carbide shaper bars but unlike the Warrior it is very controlable. Reminds me of my old Cats how you can lift the ski and keep it in the air all around a corner without loosing bite or control. Course if you shift your weight to the inside ski comes down and stays down.
Coming up I will be able to try it out in some real deep powder and will see how that works out. In the little powder I've been in its handled it quite well. The ripsaw is not a deep snow track however.
Yami did a great job with the Apex XTX! I can find no faults with it so far! I just love the sled!
Tired of the anti Yamaha movement so I posted this.

7000 miles on mine. . runs real strong with the Ulmer setup on it. Airbox, Clutching and Pc5..Powder Pro Skis. Fox floats in the front with 55 pounds of air. Out runs most anything on the lake and in the trails.. Best sled I have ever owned!!

Thank you.
Finally a post that is relevant to the Apex section about a Yamaha sled
Tired of all the about the lastest release.
Nice review. The XTX will be my next ride
I bet if you take off one or two of them windsheild pieces you will pickup another 5mph or so.
How was Saskatchatoon?

I love my 12 Apex XTX Sportbike Motorcycle........I mean Snowmobile. 160 HP is insane!!!!!!! the XTX track is insane!!!
(I did get stuck twice last week U.P. Michigan both in light huge drifts that was up to my waist. Thank god it has reverse!!! I was out in the sticks. The snow was so light however that I was able to dig the skis out and reverse then forward then reverse then floor it and got out. Other than the drifts, 90% of the time I was in untouched 3 foot of snow and never got stuck. Just watch out for the huge drifts. !!!!

Tell me more about the suspension please.
Don't you know it's an over-weight pig with horrible suspension?

i have a 2012 xtx with 1000 miles on it i put 8 inch powder hounds on it with 6 inch carbides and the thing is on rails and rides sweet and those skis work awsome on all trail conditions and really help off trail to keep that front end up!! best sled yet and i have owned them all

If you think it has horrible suspension you obviously haven't ridden one. As for the weight, your another sheep that believes everything the magazines tell you.

Great post, I love my LTX also but would agree I think the XTX is still a better all round sled!

John - it was tongue in cheek! I too ride an Apex. I was making fun of the stupid comments people always make about them being to heavy etc.....

I can vouch for Sasquatch, his Apex hooks and goes.
I got to ride with him and a great group of others on the Manitoba TY ride and he was loving it. Carrying those pretty Curve skis all day long. LOL
Looks to be a great sled, not a 'snowcrosser' but a great trail sled. The comments about weight make think of Turks great quote, "where I am from we ride our sleds, we don't carry them".
