What the heck was the noise coming from that nytro while he was filming,it sounded like track slapping,or the skid slapping like our apex skid does sometimes, that would drive me crazy after an afternoon.
I know a lot of people that own Polaris and they haven't had problems with their sleds. My friends that own Ski Doo's have had problems and Artic Cats not so much. I've had problems with my nytro, ball joint on a-arms going out, subframe bending, plastics don't fit like they use to and some other things, but no engine problems. I'm glad they put the best engine in them. Reading previous posts on this website one would think these other sleds would spontaneously combust when you ride them, yet they don't. How many Yamaha fans out there would love the new Polaris PRO RMK if it was the exact same sled but with Yamaha decals.
Bottom Line. I have friends with Turboed Artic Cats that have close to 5000 miles on them with no problems. Will they last longer than a 4 stroke probably not, but they have done great so far. Most people buy new sled around that time anyways. Yamaha can do more to lighten their sled without compromising reliability and I don't know why they don't. Such things like lighter skid, batteries, exhaust, front suspension, seats, etc. I've lighten my sled by 70 lbs, but then add some with a supercharger. If more blue blooded yamaha fans would have more of a demand on lighter weight sleds maybe yamaha would do something about it. Yet, they don't and yamaha goes on with trying to sale a light weight skid in their accessories catalog.
