Well I just got done putting my down payment on a 2012 Apex XTX, black. I got an extra two years on the YES for a total of 5yrs.
It's been 5 years on an '02 Viper 136" w/ many upgrades, but it's time for technology. I can't wait till next season, although this weekend will be my last ride on my Viper, and then the decision to sell as a whole or part it out.
Any suggestions on performance upgrades? I do plan on studding, probably w/ 171 Roetins 1.340", after addressing the tunnel protectors issue, who knows maybe it will be addressed w/ the new year.
I am interested in some clutching ideas. I see some people like Ulmers, but are complaining on losing the top end, and I was intrigued with the R&T weights by Bender, but can't find much on them.
Also would you automatically suggest the 13mm upgrade on the sway bar? I am 6'1" 235 dressed out. I will be shimming the ski's.

Congrats, you are going to love the sled. You're best bet is to try it out first, I think you'll be very happy with the pull. I see no need to clutch it but thats just me. You picked black, any pictures? What are they offering for colors on the 2012s?

Thanks. From the literature I only see black and a new "electric" blue color offered. I didn't see any offer of the red or their usual blue, so I didn't bother asking. The sled is on order, and won't be in till around October. Hopefully it won't set off a geiger counter when it arrives!

Put my order in for a Black XTX this past weekend, got a pretty good deal but still wasn't cheap compared to Doo/Poo/Cat but neither are Mercedes compared to Honda's.

I have a 2011 Apex and only put 700 miles on it because of lack of snow. You will really like the sled. I would not do anything with clutching, etc. until you get some miles on it and break it in. I added larger, Excell wheels and made special wheel mounts with the original wheels . That seemed to cure the problem for premature slide wear.
I softened my middle shock and rear shock to achieve the settle in that I wanted. It really helped the ride on rough trails. This works well for me as I am not a ditch banger. The power is awsome and a lot of fun.

I wouldn't worry about the geiger counter, if it were my new sled I'd be more worried about the richter scale from me jumping up and down.

Thanks for the negative angle, you must have a Doo/Poo/Cat POS and it bothers you.

02vipermody44, I think you will love the 2012 Apex. At the end of Jan., I bought a 2011 Apex SE, and really like it. By the way I live just a little north or you up by Westernville. We should get together for a ride sometime next year, or come join us next year in one of out NY totally Yamaha rides. I still have snow around my house, so I am going out for a quick ride now, and then setting her up for Summer storage.

I believe he was addressing he would be happy about a new toy purchase and jumping up and down w/ joy, as a 'richter scale' is the scale used to measure earthquakes. I don't believe he was slamming the weight of the Apex, as I believe you are taking it.
