Save up the money and buy a pair of Simmons flexi skis. The gen 1 has way better handling and more flotation than the stock mtx skis. Gen 3 are a bit wider and have just a good handling as the gen 1 and have alot more floatation than than stock mtx skis. I believe the older mtx ski uses the same runner. The new 2012 camoplast skis are completely different But the problem I had with the old mtx ski is any time you get into loose snow they would throw snow at your hands and face. If you do any thing less than 50% off trail go with gen 1 if you do more than 50% off trail get the gen 3. The Simmons will beat the new and old mtx skis on the trail hands down for handling and will be just as good or if not better flotation in the deep snow.

Yes...same runner set up. I really like mine with the snow trackers.

Mine are the older ones...not sure what runners the 2012 skis use. Snow trackers are like cobra heads but better IMHO.

The Simmons come with there own runners. They have 2 runners per ski. If you want handling and flotation nothing can beat the Simmons. All other skis have a V shaped keel were Simmons have a concave ski so it packs the snow in so it floats rather than pushing the snow away like a V shaped ski. The reason there called flexi skis is because they actully flex as you ride down the trail absorbing the bumps making easier on your arms. And with the 2 runners they don't fallow other ski tracks like single runners and gets rid all darting
good thing abuot the yami mtn ski is there are lots of options for carbides and easy to locate. imo the older mtn ski are the best bang for the buck ski.

MTX skis are the most underrated ski imo. Not the MT9 on the 2012+. The MTX ski handles good on trail and off. They are cheap to buy too.
