My sled has only 750Kms on it. Had the oil and filter changed after the first season around 500Kms.
Last two years it has only had 250Kms put on it but no oil change. I saw a Yamaha promotional video the other day and they claimed that after your first filter, you don't need to change the filter again until 20,000Kms.
Although a real pain in the arse to change the filter and oil, I will this year but how many of you are not changing your filters every time you change oil?

I change the oil and filter every year. Small price to pay for peace of mind that my engine has the best protection that I can give it.

The filter on the Vector is very easy to change. You have to pull the access panel under the front of the sled to drain the oil anyway and the filter is right there. The Apex & Phazer are more troublesome as you must remove the air box.

Depending on seasonal mileage, I typically change filter every other season.

The oil filter is very easy to change on the Vector. It's good and cheap insurance. Change it each time you change oil..My sled has only 750Kms on it. Had the oil and filter changed after the first season around 500Kms.

The Yamaha manual states to change the oil filter after 800 kms, then at 20,000 km intervals. You can bet that their recommendations are always on the conservative side. For us old schoolers, that is hard to fathom, but that doesn't mean that it is incorrect. So I compromise, new oil every season and change the filter every 2 seasons, about 10,000 kms. You obviously can change the filter at shorter intervals if you desire and it definitely won't hurt anything, but do you need to? If you have OCD or lose sleep at night, go for it.

This is how I look at it. When its time to change the oil I change all the oil. That includes the filter which is saturated with oil. Not doing the filter is allowing old oil to mix with the new.
Just doing the oil is like having sort of new oil for the engine to use. Its better than what it was but it still could be improved upon.

On the side of the oil and filter, are there any links to the step by step for the 2013 Vector LTX. First time so any with photos for each step would be better.

I can't say that I've ever seen a thread with pictures. Maybe in the Apex forum? (same chassis, different motor). Let the search function be your friend. If you were in the USA I'd be happy to walk you through it on the phone.
